How to search several "data sources" at once.

The search field in the status bar is pretty awesome but only if it can search through several datasources.
We have one datasource for our customer hosts and use local datasource for anything "personal".

How can I avoid switching the datasource manually before doing the search ?

Hello,

We have created the Private Vault to prevent having to manage multiple data sources at the same time. Our security/logging system is simply too extensive to open multiple data sources at the same time.

Sorry about that, but its not possible at this time

Hello,

I didn't know about the Private Vault before so I went to the manual.
I do not see how it address the fact to manage multible data sources or not.

I thought I would use favorites with keyboard shortcuts to workaround this limitation but discovered that even favorites are linked to the data source.

This is going to be frustrating.

Thank you for your fast reply anyhow.

Hello,

The private vault allows you to stored private information in the main data source.

This would remove the need to have a secondary data source for your personal information.

Hello,

I created an connection entry in the private vault but it does not appear when I use the search control (in the status bar).
Is the search supposed to search the private vault content as well ?

Thanks,

Pierre

Hi,

We are experiencing the same issue (not having a good way to store personal data). As we use the Online Database the Private Vault is not even an option for us but I doubt it would solve our issues if we could use it.

For now, we recommend our users to use a different password manager for personal data. That way they can use both tools at the same time without having to constantly switch.

Not a very pretty solution and I would much rather use the same tool for both purposes but the only workaround that did the trick for us.

The search/filter feature leaves session visible in the current panel. You must switch the private vault to see if the query has results.

if you must choose that option, please use something that is protecting your data and makes it easy for you to safeguard the data file as most systems have local only storage solutions.

You could use Remote Desktop Manager Free and choose the Devolutions Online Drive for session storage.

You must keep the suggestions coming in order to improve the product, but when we take the final decision we must support all of our existing customers, and some of them have dozens data sources

Best regards,

Maurice

Certainly. Although the number of password managers that have this is certainly increasing fortunately. As this is about personal data it is up to the user in the end.

Unfortunately that doesn't work too well. The password manager add-in for your browser, for instance, can't work with both at the same time. That's why we need to use a different product for personal data.
