Is it somehow possible to show the taskbar of the local machine when connecting to a remote desktop session using full screen? Just to clarify: I am used to see two taskbars (the lower taskbar belongs to the the local machine, the upper taskbar lays just above of the local one and belongs to the remote machine).I did not find any option. I am used to it with visionappRemoteDesktop.
Thanks,
Thorsten

Hi,
I think that could be possible to add. This is not supported but I understand that a useful feature
David Hervieux
I wonder that nobody else has requested this feature yet. It's THE feature I am relying most when working with remote desktops in full screen. It's necessary to see what's happening on the local machine. For me using tabs is no alternative because the screen of my notebook is too small (1366x768). And on my 22' monitor I also got used to work without tabs.
Sorry that I am starting in this forum with a feature request...
Thorsten
That's ok, don't worry it's a good idea. Most people use the tab, that's why this was not requested before.
David Hervieux
I think most people don't even know that this could be possible, too...
Do you know already whether this will be implemented in far or near future?
Thorsten
I can't give you a time frame but I'm really interested in this feature. I hope that this could be in the 8.1
David Hervieux
If you like to see how it feels try it in vRD (you have to configure this feature it in options - connections separately).
Thorsten
Has my requested feature (show local taskbar when working with remote sessions in full screen mode) been integrated in the current version (v8.3)?
Thorsten
Yes it is. You need to set the RDP resolution to Current work area size and use the open undocked.
David Hervieux
What do you mean with "open undocked"?
Testing just with size = "current work area size" does not show the remote screen in full screen view. There is no connection bar on top, and I have a scroll bar, too.

In the Advanced tab page of the session, make sure to check Open undocked.

When using size "current work area size" I notice no difference at all using the advanced option "open undocked" (or not). What exactly should happen?
The local taskbar is visible with or without this option. But using "current work area size" the remote desktop is not completely visible (I have to scroll down to view at the remote taskbar). What I would like to have is that the remote desktop shall fit completely in the "current work area size" so that everything is visible: the complete remote desktop including its taskbar and the local taskbar. Is this possible?
Hi,
Could you post or send me a print screen?
David Hervieux
Just to clarify (see my posting no. 1): I'd like to work with Remote Desktop sessions in full screen mode; the remote taskbar is visible all the time. At the top of the window there is the normal pinned remote connection bar. AND: At the same time, at the bottom of the screen, there should be the local taskbar visible all the time.
Is this possible with RDM?
If you would like to test this functionality you can install the product ASG-Remote Desktop. Activate the option "show local taskbar in full screen mode" (options, connections).
This is no nice to have feature for me. It's essential for my work because I switch between different sessions and I'd like to have as much as possible workspace visible for the remote session. Therefore I'd prefer not to work in a tabbed window.

This is exactly what I have on my screen and this is why I want to see in a print screen what you get when you use Current Work Area sized undocked.
David Hervieux
Thank you for your patience, it works finally. There was a wrong option in my config: Display was set to "external". It's necessary to set it to 'embedded (tabbed)'. Of course, without this setting the option "open undocked" makes no sense at all.
The reason of this wrong option in my config was that 'External' is the default option when creating a new RDP session. Perhaps it should be set to "embedded"?
BTW When playing around with different view modes I noticed a small issue:
- open a remote session "current worksize/open undocked"
- click on full screen icon on the status bar on top
- a 'real/native' full screen mode RDP session window appears
- minimze this full screen mode window
- now there are two connection icons visible on the local taskbar : one for the 'native' full screen window (which works as expected) and another one for the first 'current worksize/open undocked' window which is blank and does not respond anymore as long as the 'native' full screen window is not 'restored'
Thanks again,
Thorsten
Hi,
I will verify the issue. By the way, the next version will have a combo with the 3 options:
External
Embedded
Undocked
