Unable to find Real VNC although it is installed

Unable to find Real VNC although it is installed

Hi,

I installed RDM yesterday and the RDP-Connections work fine, but there are no VNC-Connections possible.

Although I "installed" the Real VNC Viewer and entered the correct installation path RDM keeps saying that it was "Unable to find Real VNC". Im using Win XP with SP3 and .Net framework 3.0. I had the same Issue with Vista SP1 before, but could work around the problem by copying the VNC-Viewer to C:/. Yet with XP this doesn't do the trick. I tried the current Version of Real VNC and Version 4.0 as you suggest on your homepage. I tried copying VNC to C:/, to the programs folder and to the RDM installation folder - no change.

It shouldn't make any difference, but I'm using Windows on a Mac in a virtual environment (Parallels). I only say that, because I'm using RDM on another PC as well with native Win XP installed and there it worked right away (yet I'm not sure about the SP installed there).

With the kind help of David I was able to solve the Problem an just wanted to post the solution here, just in case somebody else might come across the same Problem.

If you just use VNC-viewer which is just an executable without any installation routine (not the VNC-server) you will have to change the name of the .exe to vncviewer.exe as RDM will look for a file with exactly this name within the installation path configured in the options window.
