I am running RDM 5.5.1.0 enterprise and I have noticed a couple of issues.
I have a saved session that is set for 'Remote desktop size', 'Default'. RDP is set to use 1680 x 1050 resolution on my computer, but when my session opens through RDM, I am in full screen. This saved session is shared with others in my company and I don't want to change away from 'Default'.
In the same saved session, 'Monitor' is listed as 'Current monitor'. It is random which monitor the RDP session opens on. RDM is displayed on my primary monitor, I use the tray icon to open a session and my cursor stays on my primary monitor, yet sometimes the session is opened on my secondary monitor (to the right of primary). I've also had the RDP session open in the background, but it appears selected. I might have Visual Studio up and RDP opens behind Visual Studio. I then must select Visual Studio from the task bar, then select the RDP session.
I have not seen either of these issues when directly opening an RDP session on my computer.
Hi,
The next version after the current beta (maybe in the current beta) will allow user to override some specific settings, like the user name, the password and the screen resolution. These settings will be saved in the database per user and I think this will resolve your first issue.
For your other problem, I will try to investigate, it's really weird. For the last problem (background), I think that I can do something for that and I will try to add a fix in the next beta.
Thank you for all your comments.

The updater in 5.5.1.0 is not working. I finally figured this out and downloaded the newest version.
How do I get the user specific session info in the new version? I tried to create a user in Remote Desktop Manager, but when I try to connect as the user, it tells me the database is unavailable. I'm using SQL Server.
Hi,
You must be db_owner or sysadmin to create user, are you ? Can you tell me the exact message you get?

Also, did you created the user with RDM ?

Yes, I have to be sysadmin. db_owner is not enough for me to create the user. I created the user, then edited my datasource to my new username, RDM-Steve. When I click ok to dismiss the datasources dialog, I get a message which reads: "The current datasource is unavailable.\r\n\r\nLogin failed for user 'RDM-Steve'." \r\n is not visible, just visible line breaks.
Hi,
Have you added RDM-steve also in Remote Desktop Manager or just in SQL Server Management Studio ?
Can you try to connect with SQL Server Management Studio?

Yes, I created the user in RDM. I can connect in through SQL Server Management Studio from both my local machine and server. I also opened up the UserInfo table through this user and can see a 'RDM-Steve' entry.
More explicitly, I only added the user in RDM. I didn't not do any administration in SQL Server.
It's perfect, I just don't know why you get the error, can you try to reenter your password in RDM or prompt for it ? The error is from SQL Server, that's why I'm asking for that.

Strange, I didn't make any changes, I just restarted and everything started working. Thanks for the help. I didn't see any good instructions for adding users, but if anyone reads this, I would say:
To add a user to Remote Desktop Manager:
- Log in as a sysadmin SQL Server user, sa or some other user
- Create a user
- Try logging in as that user. If that fails, restart RDM

Ok, one suggestion for the batch edit, give me a way to select all like sessions. I have mostly remote desktop, but a couple other connections and I can't use batch all. Maybe a select all same type of connections. I was Ctrl highlighting each remote desktop session, then clicked on a group. Now all those connections are in one group. Maybe an undo button as well. Thanks!
Hi,
It's a good news that it's now working.
1. For the batch selection, select by connection type if an excellent idea
2. You're right, there is no good document for the user management, but it will be available soon.
3. Undo. outch, it's not easy to implements
Thank you for your comments

I can understand undo might be difficult to implement. Maybe some locking feature so you can't move your connections. We have many groups with a couple connections in each group. Two of us have messed up our list and had to redo the list because we were Ctrl selecting remote desktop connections and then all connections moved to a single group.
Also, I tried checking for a new version on 5.6.2.0 and it told me I was up to date. Others here are running 5.6.3.0.
A locking system might be more simple.
For the auto update, I enable it slowly, to to be sure that the migration is smooth for everybody. Like Microsoft does with their Service Pack. I got som many problem with Vista and UAC
