File Explorer Sessions to File Server Mappings Broken

File Explorer Sessions to File Server Mappings Broken

avatar

Hi,

Since upgrading to 10.5.2.0 all of my file explorer sessions to file server folders are broken. When I open the session, the file explorer window will open for half a second then the session disappears. This will happen if the embedded or undocked session options are selected. If I select to launch the session externally, windows explorer will open but it will only bring up my local documents directory. If I manually cut and past the fileserver path from the session into windows file explorer, I can get to the fileserver folders no problems.

Regards,

Michael

Hi,
I will ask Hubert to reproduce it and let you know. Does it happen for a local path as well?

Hello Michael,

This should be fixed in the next version of RDM. Thank you for finding this issue. When the next version of RDM is released, could you give it a try and tell us if the problem is gone?

Regards,

Hi Hubert,

Will be happy to test in the next release. Will it be in the next beta? Any ETA on that?

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Hubert,

Confirming this is still broken with version 10.9.0.0

At least the window doesn't disappear immediately anymore. If I cut and past the fileserver path into the embedded window, it will navigate to the fileserver folder.

Hello Michael,

Could you do an export of one of your file explorer sessions and send it to me through the forum's private messaging feature or in email at hmireault (at) devolutions.net ? Be sure to remove any sensitive information beforehand.

Hi Hubert,

Can you clarify what you mean by export a file explorer session for me?

Michael

Hi dokkie,

You just need to do a right-click on your file explorer session and select Export -> Export Selection (.rdm).

Now, it would be possible for you to send your session to Hubert via email or private message.

I apologise for the delayed reply but I have determined what has changed to break my fileserver mappings...

If I have the host name in the host and credentials tab, it breaks the fileserver mapping - which seems like odd behavior. If I remove the host details from the hosts and credentials tab and just have the fileserver mapping in the general section it works.

It wasn't like this in the past.

Hi,

Do you put the host in both the folder path and in the host field?

yes I used to and it used to work:

Example:
Host: NAS
Folder: \NAS\My-Folder\

I assume you are saying I should do the following:

Host: NAS
Folder: \My-Folder\

I guess that is better than the workaround I described
Host:
Folder: \NAS\My-Folder\

Right, I understand the issue, thank you for providing the example. You can use either of these workarounds for now, but in the next RDM version this should be fixed. The workarounds will still work and your current situation will work too, if you prefer to wait for the new version and not change your entries.

I see this must have been fixed in the 10.9.8.0 beta. All my fileserver shortcuts are working again! thanks.
