Make a deployment with new configuration

Make a deployment with new configuration

avatar

Hello!

I am using custom installer to create preconfigured installation files. After that I make a deployment to automatically update all PCs.
If I now start RDM it recognizes that there is a new configuration and asks what to do. Can I somehow force it to use the new configuration?

Best regards,
Andy

Hi,
I will enter a feature request and investigate. I'm not sure exactly how the new configuration is detected.

hi,
it has been 8 years since then.
We are still facing this issue where use literally always think a new config means something goes wrong.
Well, it does, because the old config leads to no datasource ;-)
We REALLY would like to take that decision away from the user.
the only way to come back from that mishap is to clear up the localappdata folder for RDM and restart the application.
it then asks again and you press the right button or cancel the dialogue as suggestet in topic 31438

Hello,

Thank you for your reply,

To clarify, you would like to force the use of the new .cfg to the users is that correct? If so, my understanding is that this can be done using GPO, the GPO "Force the loading of the default.cfg file " which you can find in this knowledge base article: https://docs.devolutions.net/kb/remote-desktop-manager/how-to-articles/group-policies/

Let me know if misunderstood.
