Is there a manual or write up that explains proper setup of Spiceworks integration? I see other people have had problems with this also.

That help section hasn't been written up yet. Can you describe the issue your experiencing? I can write up something quick that will be added to the online help for others to use.
Please provide the RDM version and edition that you use, As well as the Spiceworks setup that you have.

I need the correct way to login and avoid errors. I get invalid XML file. I have seen others in the forum with the same problems, but I don't see any solutions, instructions or FAQ. I have also posted in Spiceworks forums for help.

Hello David,
When you get the "Invalid XML file" error, you're supposed to get a window with the XML document. There's a copy button there, could you copy the XML and send it to me at hmireault (at) devolutions.net ?
Additionally, could you login to your spiceworks server in a web browser, then go to "http://<your spiceworks server>/api/groups.xml" and "http://<your spiceworks server>/api/devices.xml"? These should give the same results as what we fetch. If you could send these to me too that would be useful.
Be sure to remove any sensitive information from the XMLs.

We had an older version, I have upgraded to v7.3.00108 and it worked.
I played around with permissions and I have the xml error when I do not have access to these areas in spiceworks itself. What permissions do you have?
If you only have the help desk permission, you cannot list groups and devices.

I have committed code that will not react badly to this situation. It will show the error message in a normal dialog instead of the error dialog.
It should be available in a coming build.
