After re-installation: Unable to find mstsc.exe

Win 8.1

Dear Madame and Sirs,
after re-installation all the desktop icons of my remote connections lead to the error message
"Unable to find mstsc.exe, Microsoft Remote Desktop Client must be installed."
But typing mstsc.exe at the command line or Start Menu immediately leads to the exe what is running properly.

Is there any path needed?

Thank you very much

Hello,

Do you mean the rdp files?

What version of remote desktop manager do you have?

Best regards,

Maurice

Version 10.1.9 - the current one.

I have created a Desktop ShortCut under "Advanced"

Thank you

Hello,

During the install of RDM, you were prompted to link the rdp files with RDM instead of mstsc. It seems something went wrong.

Please follow http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/choose-programs-windows-uses-default to reestablish the link towards the program of your choice.

Best regards,

Maurice

Hello,
no it is linked to rdp files. Seems to be alright at this point.
I tried it to on another PC with another configuration but getting the same result (unable to find mtsc)

Best Regards

Hi,
I have the same problem on Windows 7.
The problem is present after upgrade to Version 10.1.9. Now I have installed last version 10.5.4.0 but I still have the problem.

Does it work when you open the connection in embedded mode?

Hi,
running the sessions inside RDM works in all ways.
Creating the shortcut I have errors only in case of session is defined as 'External' (Embedded and Undocked is ok).
Thanks,
Paolo
