Remote desktop Manager does NOT remember passwords

Remote desktop Manager does NOT remember passwords

avatar

I installed Remote Desktop Manager and imported my *.rdp files. I imported them as content, not as link.

When using Remote Desktop Manager to connect to one of the servers I have to log in manually on the server using the Windows Logon. When using the windows *.rdp link with stored password I do NOT have to login manually on the server. Retyping my password in Remote Desktop Manager does not solve this problem.

Please help me to solve this issue because I like to use Remote Desktop Manager.

Kind regards,

Pieter

Solved it myself. I was not using Microsoft Remote Desktop Client 6.0

Hi,
What version of mstsc.exe do you use ? Because the lastest version 6.0 now store the password in the Windows Credential Manager and not in the rdp file anymore.

Please Help !

I'm using MSTSC version 6.0
Using internal database (error ?)
Windows 2003 Standard

When creating a connection, I store the password in the database, but, it is still asking for credentials before opening the remote dektop connection.

hi therxavi,

did you make sure not to check "always ask for credentials" on the general tab of the connection?

Yes, it is not checked.

Maybe the problem is because the version of RDP is 6.0 nor 6.1

Using an sql DB is better or not ?

I have manually replaced all the file for RDP by version 6.1, but now it doesn't ask for credentials but I have to enter credentials at rdp logon .... not a solution

Hi,
SQL Server will not help. Do you connect embedded or external ? Can you try both ? What is the destination OS (windows 2000 does not support auto connect) ?

Also, you can check this faq, maybe it's the Window configuration:

http://blogs.msdn.com/rds/archive/2007/01/22/vista-remote-desktop-connection-authentication-faq.aspx

Let me know

Everything is correct like your documentation ...

But I see that if Remote Dektop Manager is installed on Windows XP with rdp 6.1 everything is OK.
If installed on Windows 2003, it ask for password ...

If you prefer, we can continue by mail. (I got Enterprise license, I don'y know if support change).

Thanks for help, but I need we continue ...

Hi,
You can send me an email at support@devolutions.net. Can you try to run mstsc.exe and see if you save the password if it's work ?
