setting a template as default for a type

I realize this is old but I have to ask.
Is this feature available and how to use it?
Having templates is nice but I want to set a default template so everytime I create a session I dont have to remember to choose from a template. Maybe this can be done already but I am unable locate how in the documentation.

The default template is not here by default, but in the menu there is a Add from template entry
