About to upgrade and rollout rdpm 7.5

avatar

Hi,

we just purchased our new site license for 7.5 and I am wondering if there is anything to keep in mind when upgrading.
The last few times I installed the new version on my machine, connected to sql-db with owner rights to perform upgrade and then told everyone to install the custom made msi installer.
I assume that I can perform the upgrade to 7.5 like that?

thx

That what I did and it seem to work fine, the SQL database was upgraded automatically. Currently I have only a small test group using RDM so I don't know if this will differ with a larger group of users..

I dont think the user count makes any difference. Usually when upgrading an application databse I tend to expect problems with older clients, but never had that with rdpm before. Just wanted to make sure as 7.03.0 -> 7.5.x is a rather big jump.
As a precauttion I will take an extra backup of the db.

Hi,
It possible that you could have problem but it's not related to the database upgrade. Most of the time what happen is that somebody with a newer version add an entry that does not exist in older version. For example if you add an Azure entry of if you change the Group type for Site, Server, company...

If I remember correctly this database upgrade is used to change varchar fields to nvarchar to support special chars.

I am still waiting to get the new license key from our sales department, I will perform the upgrade probably some time next week and then post the result.
