Hi
We are in the process of restructing our sessions and updating them. the refresh in the RDM client is very slow. can you suggest any ways of improving this? i.e. minimum amount of RAM, SQL tweaks etc
Thanks

Do you have a lot of description or custom images? How many session do you have?
David Hervieux
Also, have you tried RDMS? It uses the same database but it has a client and server cache.

What do you mean by 'alot' of descriptions, we have just started using custom images but performance was slow before that.
Haven't tried RDMS

How many session do you have? I just want to get some clues and find out what I could do to optimize it. By description, I mean description with image inside (rtf) and a lot of content.

We have currently about 500 sessions. on Average 5-10 words in the description field (TXT only)

WE have an option to disable the custom image. Could you try it. I think it's in the advanced setting

I only have a total of 10 sessions with custom images. And the performance issue started before i did that.

Simon - I'm wondering if you guys are at 7.5.0.0? I just upgraded our copy and updated our SQL database, and I'm seeing a much larger delay that what we were used to in the older versions. I saw something in the change history about NTFS encryption for offline mode - but I'm seeing delays in online mode. We're at 1233 sessions right now total. No custom images at all. David - if you think I should open a new thread let me know.
Could you try to disable the offline mode to see if this makes a difference? It just because even in online mode, we have to create the offline file.

In my experience running the latest version of the client and the latest SQL DB, running around 300 sessions with custom images on probably 20% I have seen no performance degredation. Are all the users accessing the SQL DB internal or do you also have external users? If the latter are the external users the ones encountering the issues?
In one instance a few months ago I saw a speed degredation when using Azure, however I believe this was due to the instabilities in Azure not RDM.

Sorry for the delay - I didn't realize there was a response. Tried turning off offline mode - no nice. Once the app opens, its 15sec before any sessions will show up, the app is unresponsive while this is happening.
I'll see if there's anything odd going on with the SQL server. Issues are happening both remote and local.
