Remote Desktop Manager Will Not Close

Remote Desktop Manager Will Not Close

avatar

Hi,

I am not able to close the Remote Desktop Manager application, either using the pull-down menu File/Exit, the "X" in the window bar or the right-click "Exit" on the taskbar icon. After I click the "Yes" on the confirmation dialog box, the app continues to run.
I have to kill the application with the Task Manager. I am using Windows XP SP3.
Thanks.

Hi,
I might know what can cause the problem, in the option, try to disable the setting "Check for host availability". It's the only thing done in background and maybe it stuck somewhere, waiting for a network response.

Let me know if it's help

Sorry I forgot to write, if it's the host availability the problem, I will try to find real solution. I just want to be sure.

Thank you

Hi David,

I unchecked "Check for host availability" on the pull-down menu File>Options and on each one of the existing 11 Remote Desktop Connection sessions, but the problem persists.
This morning I installed the application on another computer with Windows XP SP3 and the applications closes as expected without any issues.
I would say that my problem is local to my laptop and therefore does not warrant any time spent on trying to fix the issue. I will manage it with a small app called SuperF4.
Thanks for your help and the great software.
Regards,

Hi,
Just a quick note, there is global option for that, it's located in the "General" tab.

Hi David,

Yes, I unchecked the also the option "Check for host availability" on the File>Options>General Tab.
If the General tab option to "Check for host availability" is unchecked, will it override the settings on each individual sessions?
Thanks again.

Hi,
Yes if the global setting is off, there is no check executed.

Does it help ?

Hi David,

No, it did not help. I still can not close the application.
But, as I said, it seems that this problem is local to my laptop and I will just work around the problem. It does not seem to be an issue with the application itself.
Thanks for all your help.

I guess that I have also a problem what seems to be likely:

I got an error when I tried to close the program by clicking File --> exit... (The other close button (in the right upper corner) did not work):

I am also running Windows XP SP3
I'll tell you what I was doing when the error came:
I started two sessions in the morning only with remote desktop connection in RDM and when I tried to close RDM this error occurred.

Tanks a lot

I'm unable to close remote desktop manager in version 6 as well. It pops up a box asking me if I want to quit and I click yes, but it still wont close.

Hi,
Can you close all your session before to see if this help? If not, I can send you a special version with debug info
