Force Disconnect and Force Refresh of Data Source

Force Disconnect and Force Refresh of Data Source

avatar

Hi, I apologize if this topic has been covered, I've tried searching to no avail.

I'm currently using groups/folders with different security credentials. I'd like to make it so that when I drag an entry from one group to another, any user without access to the new group is disconnected and their data source refreshed.

For example, I have a Builders group and a Managers group. When I move an entry from builders to managers, I want anyone connected to that entry in the Builders to be signed out of the server and their access removed. I haven't figured out a way to disconnect the user or hide the entry from the user until they manually refresh the data source.

Thanks in advance, appreciate the help.

Hello,

This feature doesn't exist.

Do you know how to disconnect users forcefully by a remote command? I would suspect this must be done on each host.

Best regards,

Maurice

Thanks for the quick reply Maurice.

I can log the user out by simply logging into the account myself, however the problem is that until they refresh their data source, the session entry is still there allowing them to reconnect. This seems like it would be a rather large security concern for many organizations. It leaves no way to modify a users access without their willingness to refresh the data source.

Hello,

You can set the auto-refresh on the data source, and lock it to prevent further changes.

It works well only if the users do not know their own passwords though, so they cannot register another data source for the same database.

We are implementing a lot of system level policies in the coming weeks, we could add a few interesting features in that area. I will discuss this with David.

Best regards,

Maurice

Thanks, that would be great. Would you mind helping me locate the auto-refresh? I don't seem to be able to locate it in the data source settings. Also on each RDP session I have a fixed resolution defined, how would I go about locking the users ability to change the resolution?

Thanks again.

Its in the advanced settings of data sources.

File - Data sources - choose data source in grid, advanced tab.

You cannot lock a specific setting of a session, you either grant them the edit permission, or not.
