OpenVPN issues - Sophos

Is it when you open the VPN or when it disconnect?

When connecting

Do you see the OpenVPN credential dialog?

Yes. It is after that past that the application locks up for a period of time and eventually - after 3-6 minutes will unfreeze and initiate the RDP session.

Could you try to just open the VPN and not link it to an RDP session?

I have downloaded and installed the latest version. Still takes a very long time to start the RDP session after the VPN is loaded. RDM locks up during that time. Takes 4-6 minutes to connect which is not that acceptable compared to other vpn / rdp connections I make.

Let me know what other things we can try.

Also, is there a way to auto fill the vpn credentials when the customer has apparently set for that not to be allowed on the actual vpn client?

Could you try to open the RDP in external mode?

Well I got kicked out so had to log back in. Selecting External seemed to take just as long. It is somewhere with the OpenVPN / RDP handoff. I cannot figure it out. I wonder if other OpenVPN users are seeing the same or if it is something with the configuration for Sophos. Unfortunately I do not have another client using Sophos at this time to test that.

I might have an idea. Could you disable udp in RDP?

You can do this in RDM directly Tools-> Local RDP/RemoteApp Manager

Disabling UDP made no difference.

It seems to be an issue with the hand off between the VPN and the RDP session. The speed is much better when I connect to the VPN first then connect the RDP session. Having the RDP session open the VPN connection is what is locking RDM and taking 3-6 minutes to connect to the RDP session.
