Store credentials not working for RDP Client 7.0

Store credentials not working for RDP Client 7.0

It seems like stored credentials don't work for properly RDP Client 7.0 on XP.

They were working fine for Remote Desktop Manager v 5.6.3.0, 5.7.3.0 and 7.0.3.0. When I updated to RDP Client 7.0, I also did the upgrade to RDM 7.1.0.0 when I noticed that it had stopped working. I tried uninstalling RDM and jumping through the hoops of losing the DB connection to the session information and so on, but none of my previous versions worked. I tried to uninstall RDP Client 7.0, but that's very very hard to do apparently so I was never able to get it back to version 6.0 like I had it before.

Example:
- Host1 (Administrator)
- Host1 (MyUser)

If I create 2 RDM session entries to Host1 but with different credentials, I will only login w/ the last set of credentials that I updated.

e.g.
---
If I create Host1 for Administrator, and save those credentials, it logs in fine.

If I create another Host1 for MyUser and save those credentials, it also logs in fine (for MyUser).

But when I try to log back into Host1 (Administrator), it logs in as MyUser!!
---

That's a bug. Granted, it's probably one related just to RDP Client 7.0 (and maybe just on XP).

I didn't try embedded mode yet. If I get a chance to try other things, I will let you know.

Hi,
this is not a bug and it's an old limitation. The Windows credential Vault used to manage the local password does not support to use the same host for two different connections. The only way to by bass this is to save the password in RDM directly. Could you try it by requesting a trial?

Okay, that jogs some memories. I don't use RDM very often (as you can see in the gap between versions).

Do you know if this limitation is in Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2? (As far as I understand, the Windows Credentials system got revamped for 7...)

Thanks!

From what I know, it's this way since XP because the host is used as the key and it does not contains the port

Looks like you're right. Windows 7 also stores credentials per-host instead of per-host-per-user.
