Keeps Reconnecting

avatar

When I change tabs, I keep getting the Windows reconnecting popup box. This started with the latest release.

If this is not a bug then what setting I can make to fix this behavior?

Hi abssd,

It’s our new feature that uses a new RDP 8 setting for a quick reconnect to perform a resize.
The setting is called Screen Sizing mode. Could you try with none to see if it resolves the issue?

The easiest way is to set all sessions to screen sizing mode = default, then go in File -> Options -> Types -> RDP and set the screen sizing mode to none.

You can also read the following blog for more information:

Hi,

I've just updated to 10.0.17 and continue to not be able to be connected to more than ONE remote terminal server at once, without causing a can't reconnect problem.

I understand the new reconnect approach and have no issue with that when connected to a SINGLE server. Ye the message is annoying, yes it's much slower than the standard MS RDP software, but I can live with it, it works when I only have one RDP session open.

I've read the Blog, http://blog.devolutions.net/2014/10/embedded-sessions-reconnecting-its-a-new-feature-of-the-rdp-activex.html.

Screen Sizing Mode is set to None.

Here's the sequence.......

Connect to one RDP session in full screen.

Revert to your local desktop.

Connect to another RDP session in full screen.

Revert to your local desktop.

Select either of the RDP session you have open and go back to a Full Screen connection.

It will not reconnect to either

I get the count up message, 1 of 20, 2 of 20, etc ..... until that times out.

End sessions, all of them.

Reconnect.

Please understand that I can't be connected to more than ONE server at a time and simply re-connect between the two, while also working on my desktop.

You just can't swtich correctly between Full Screen when multiple RDP sessions open.

I've been reporting problem for the last 4-6 weeks and get the feeling that you think it's just someone going on about the re-connect again, that's not the case.

Appreciate your advice ....

Thanks.

Hi NHEvs,
This is really a strange issue. I don't think it's related to the new screen sizing mode feature since it seems to be set to none. Just to be sure could you verify the setting in the session directly? Does it set to default or none? You could also verify the setting in Options.

With that verified, you could try RDM 64 bit to see if this also happen. Do you know if your server support RDP8 with UDP? We saw some strange thing when UDP is enabled.

Have you disabled the Smart sizing?

David

I think so, Smart Sizing is set to None in File / Options / Types / RDP.

Then in each specifc session Screen Sizing Mode, General / Display its set to Default.

How do I send you screenshots ?

Send it to support at devolutions.net

David.

More info for you, as I have isolated the trigger of the problem.

It's being caused by File / Options / Types / RDP / RDP (Version).

It was set to Default, problem happens as described.

If I set to 8.0, problem as described.

If I set to 7.0, I have correct functionality, being able to switch between connections / full screen / my local deaktop at will. Exacty what I need and am used to. Including screen scaling.

If I set to 6.1, same, it works as one would expect.

When trying the other choices (for completness of testing)

If I set to 6.0, won't connect to my servers, after offering credentials.

If I set to 5.0, I can't connect, credentials for the server aren't even offered.

I'll leave that with you and your R&D team.

Downside Please ......

What am I missing out by using 7.0 and not 8.0

Thank you very much for the details. I think that I've found the problem. For now you can still use RDP 7. I don't think you will you any downside except the smart connect.
