Browser Extension HTTP Basic

avatar

Hello!

The RDM browser extension does not fill in login data for HTTP Basic in Internet Explorer (tested with 10 and 11).
I also tested with Firefox - there it works.

Best regards,
Andreas

So I am looking forward for the reworked IE extension...

Can you tell me a approximately time you need for this that I can communicate this with our team?

avatar

Hello Maurice,

can you tell me an actual state about the IE extension? Unfortunately IE is our standard browser.

Andy

Hi,

We will perform a final test today and publish it if we find no major issues.

I just tested with Win 8.1/IE11 and Win 7/IE10 and had some trouble with the installation.
It seems the EXE file is searching the MSI file in the same directory. If both are located in the same directory installation works - you can find the install.log attached.
I also had to uninstall the old version first because it is not updating the old one and in programs list it says that version 1.0.0 is installed.

After installation the add-on works nicely with "normal" websites and if not I like to use the right click menu to fill in credentials. Unfortunately also with the new add-on for me it does not fill in credentials to websites with HTTP basic authentication (i.e. very important for us is the SAP Support Portal: https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/notes ).

With the new Firefox Add-on in our Atlassian Jira and Wiki it asks me for each pageload which logon information I want to use although I am already logged in.

Hello,

The installer technology we use can be improved, but it will always search for the MSI in the same folder.

The dev will look into your BASIC authentication issue.

Please open another thread for your other issue as it doesn't correspond with this thread's topic.

Thank you

But I only downloaded the EXE in the first step - it only has 476 KB and was useless without downloading MSI in an extra download.

What exactly is the difference if I install directly with MSI or with EXE?

I will open a new topic for the Firefox issue.

Thank you!

The setup is what is called a bootstrapper, its main use is to ensure that you are indeed running with enough privileges. The MSI will sometimes do its thing without complaining, but you'll find out the program isn't installed properly. You should use the MSI only when you are sure that you are an admin.

Ahh I see...thanks for this information!

Hi Andy,
Unfortunately, we don't have a solution to access the http basic authentication form with Internet Explorer for the moment. I will inform you if we find out something.

Meanwhile, I encourage you to use Firefox as your standard browser if possible.

However, thanks for your support!

Hi Olivier,

thank you, that's a nice christmas present.

I just tested it with our timeclocks, there it works. But I am not able to use it with regular expressions. There it is not filling in (i.e. for http://10.10.30.x I tried to use http\:\/\/10\.10\.30\..+ )
And I am not sure if it is the same authentication method but it also still does not work with https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/notes (tested with direct link and regular expression).

Best regards,
Andy

Hi Andy,

For your regular expression try without the Http, 10\.10\.30\..+

With https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/notes can you try go to the website, cancel the login then click on the url bar and press enter.
