I am trying to find out what the difference is putty sessions and embedded session. They seem to work the way, so what is the advantage of one over another.
Hi,
Putty is really a great product and that's why it's integrated. We try to bring back all their feature in native mode. The main advantage is that we can provide the credentials directly and not by using the command line (which is safer). We also get a direct access to execute a script.

Still confused David. I use Putty, what my question is in V10, when I select PUTTY and have a choice of session or embedded session, the same information can be put in either. The dropdown goes grey but still lets you select. I am using credentials from the repository (Key pair) and I see no difference in features between session or imbedded session.
oh sorry. I've explained the difference between putty and or native SSH/Telnet.
Let's answer you question:
When you create a session embedded, we will extract the information from your computer and save into RDM. This means that if you open the session on another machine where the session is not saved; RDM will create a temporary session in the registry with the saved information and use it to invoke Putty.
