I tried emailing support this question but it got bounced back with a "No MX or A records for devolutions.net" error, so I hope someone can answer my questions here.
My computer recently crashed. It was the motherboard and not the hard drive. I have the old HD in a new PC, as a slave drive. I have installed Remote Desktop Manager Free, which I think is what I used to run on my old PC.
Since I have my old HD, is there any way to get back all of my entries that I had in RD Manager? If so can you please tell me how?
Separate question, if I use RD Manager Free, will the Online Backup Service work, or will it only work with a purchased version?
Thanks, Andre
Hello,
You must have had our Standard Version, the free just came out a few weeks ago.
All of the data and settings are in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager
The most important is obviously your data, there's a good chance you were using the XML data source type.
If you see a connections.xml file you can just copy it. Since you have installed our free edition, copy the xml file to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManagerFree and register it in File - Data sources.
This is a quick post to get you started, I have to get somewhere but I will reconnect in a while.

Maurice,
Thank you very much, your instructions were excellent and I now have all my connections back! Fast, great support - awesome!
I'm sure you're correct about me having Standard version before, and that explains why I had a little trouble navigating around the UI - because it's different.
If you can answer my question about RD Free and Online Backup Service I will be most appreciative.
Thanks again for helping me out so fast, and so well.
Andre
Hello,
Sorry about the delay, we were at an offsite meeting earlier.
Online Backup is indeed available with RDM Free.
You may have to restart RDM after you've entered your RDMO credentials and the backup name though. The "Execute Backup" and "Backup History" commands are not refreshed automatically.
Maurice
Great, thanks again.

Hmmm, so when I click on the cloud backup icon in the lower right corner it takes me to a page where I can subscribe to Online backup for 14.99/year. When I click on "subscribe now" I'm taken to a page where it wants to know if I'm an Individual or Team. If I select Individual I'm going to be charged $99 + 14.99 for online backup. Nowhere is there an option to use online backup with the free version. Am I missing something? Thank you.
Hi Andre,
You just need to buy the Online Backup and it will work with RDM Free Edition.
You can request a trial for the Online Backup if you want.
Please have a look at the following link: http://remotedesktopmanager.com/Home/OnlineBackup?utm_source=rdm&utm_medium=native&utm_campaign=default
When you click on Subscribe now, click on the Product List tab to only select Online Backup.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
I just requested a free trial. I'm sure I'll like it but that's a good option to start with. Thank you.
