Hi All,
I'm trying to set up a nested item so that only a very select view users can edit it, however, I'm having access denied errors when attempting to edit.
Below is how I have it set up.
The Two Groups:
Delivery Viewers (Permissions: View only for "Delivery Resources Folder")
Delivery Editors for Customer Notes (Permissions: View and Edit the "Customer Notes")
This folder structure (Security Group pull-down menu setting of these items indicated by what's in the brackets):
Sessions -> Delivery Resources (Delivery Viewers) -> Client #1 (Delivery Viewers)
Under the Client #1 folder I have these items (Security Group pull-down menu setting of these items indicated by what's in the brackets):
Remote Connection (Delivery Viewers)
Customer Notes (Delivery Editors)
Some other things (Delivery Viewers)
Test User's security/role setting (under User Management) is:
Delivery Editors for Customer Notes (Permissions: View, Edit, Delete)
My goal is to enable the people who are part of a group called "Delivery Editors for Customer Notes" to edit an entry called "Customer Notes" under a series of nested folders.
Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong?
Hi Robert
Not to be negative, but I'm sure it would help a lot if you posted some pictures/screenshots.
You know what they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words" ;)

I have attached a picture of the permissions and what I want.
Hopefully this helps

Hello,
You cannot be more permissive in a children than in the parent. Our security system is not like NTFS where we can break the link with the parent. Furthermore, we can only add to it, not remove restrictions from a parent.
This is often requested, but would mean a major rework of our security system. This is not something we are currently planning on changing at this time.
There's a workaround though, you can create session shortcuts in other folders, themselves having a different security scheme.
Sorry about that.
Maurice
Thanks Maurice for your help.
I'll try out the shortcut idea!
Hi,
i am stuck on the same problem. Has anything changed regarding security groups?
@Christoph Steckler
What version of RDM are you running?
What type of data source are you using?
With RDM 12, there's a new Role Based Security System that you can use to configure your security in RDM. For more information, please consult

Hi,

Thanks Jeff
