Random disconnections running RDM in a Mac VM

avatar

Hello,

I am experiencing random disconnects ("retrying, 1 of 20...) when running RDM 10.x in a Parallels VM on Mac OS X 10.9. (The Mac version of RDM doesn't support LastPass in a useable way for me, so I am limited to running in a VM until that gets added to the Mac product.)

MSFT's Mac RDP client is rock-solid to the same servers.

I have tried multiple virtual adapter types in the VM, ensured that it doesn't go to sleep and tried both NAT'ed and shared access to the real adapter.

RDM is the only app in running in the VM that experiences these disconnects. Is there a setting somewhere obscure in RDM I could tweak to eliminate this problem?

Hi,
We have a new feature that resize the resolution when you change the application size. Unfortunately we need to call a reconnect and we are unable to remove this dialog when it's executed. Could it be possible that's what is happening? You can set the screen sizing mode to none to disable this.

Thanks so much, David. I'll bet that's it. I actually didn't notice a pattern until you described the resizing. I run Parallels Desktop 10 in "Coherence" mode, essentially a shared desktop with Mac OS X. PD's display driver notifies apps of window resizing.

I have to test this, but it could very well be that when I switch the focus and/or (less often) resize the RDM window, you get your reconnect message.

I was sure it was the network driver -- but like this idea much better.

I also appreciate the fast, detailed reply.

Yup, changing screen sizing mode to none solves the problem. Now, all I have to do is figure out how to set "none" as the default so I don't have to change 35 definitions individually.

You can set it to default and change it in File -> Options | RDP
