I have a problem with multiple computers, really four PCs. Three of them show the same updated information but the forth does not suncronyze with the others; however any information included in this forth computer is saved in the database. This forth computer and one of the others that are OK are outside the LAN and access the database via internet.
We have about 700 connections and the database is a 2008 Express. To go through a firewall and increase security we use an Alias created using the SQL Server Client Network Utility. We use the same alias to access another databases in the same server without any dificulty. All of the PCs use the same alias to access the server, both from outside or inside the LAN (the firewall provides loopback).
It looks as if the Refresh ( or even the Control + Refresh) did not work in this PC. I am using the 9.2.10 version of RDM, but it must be said that this problem is not new, however it is becoming more dificult to workaround it.
In advance, I thank very much fo any help
Do you have anything in the application logs (Help-> View Application Logs)?
David Hervieux
Hi, David, tanks a lot for you attention,
By now I am not at the buggy machine, so I can't access the Local Log. The general Usage Log just says several normal 'Open Session' reflecting the several times I tried from home (where is the problem) , and a 'Entry Edited' that was originated from there (as I said, edited records becomes saved in the server).
(just to register: I am an old and frequent user of RDM, a great and dependable software. You really deserve the success you are achieving)
You could try to manually delete the local cache. It's the file named offline.db located in%LocalAppData%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager
Thank you very much for you good comments
David Hervieux
There where 3 offline.db, and all have been deleted. RDM was re-opened, did not sincronyze and created 2 new offline.db, the first one, below, very small but with some content:
...\AppData\Local\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager\2344F8E3-9BC8-4AB1-B33F-83F878F91151\offline.db 0 KB
...\AppData\Local\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager\D80C3F28-A3D5-45B8-8A00-F0CA9A0AE0A6\offline.db 1.0750 KB
There was no difference after upgrading to the new version 10.0 and/or applying Control+Refresh. However I installed RDM in another PC, at home, in the same LAN of the other that does not sincronyze, and the new installation shows the same wrong information... as this is a fresh new install, the origin can't be the local cache... It looks as if the wrong information has come from the server..
What else information could I supply to support your analisys? Once again, tks for your attention.
Do you use the same exact users?
David Hervieux
Yes, the same user, and the same alias in all the machines.
To help undestand I broght my Note form Home (the first mentioned problematic machine) to my office, just to see if there could be any influence from WAN instead of LAN access.
The problem remained the same; I tried to delete the cache files and deleted / recreated the data source with no improvement.
This link ( http://www.langsoft.net/RDM_Note_PC.jpg ) gives access to an small image that reflects an example of what is happening. The left image is the corrent, the right one is the wrong.
Hello,
Please contact us at support@devolutions.net, we will escalate this.

Tks for your attention. It seems that the problem was some garbage in the SQL Server; just after schrinking the bank, the problem was fixed.
renlang, i'm having the same issue. I"m not following exactly what you did to fix this. Can you tell me what steps you took to resolve it?
Hi, Crowda... The single step that really fixed my problem was to schrink the database; in the Management Studio I selected the RDM database, Tasks, Schrink, Database. The problem was fixed but I lost some new entries, wich where not syncronized , that is, some items that where not showing in all the PCs.
