.Net download fails for new install
I need to install the enterprise version on a vm. First I tried the 7.0.3.0, and then 6.9.6.0. Both failed at the dialog where the .net 2 runtime is supposed to be downloaded and installed. As soon as the dialog opens it says Status Finished, but the Cancel button is the only enabled button.
Can't go anywhere from here. I will probably just download .net 2 from microsoft and install manually but this appears to be an installer bug. The vm is running xp pro; my other box that did not have this issue is win 7 pro.

While I was creating the prev message, a dialog finally showed up stating that the download had failed and that I could remove the prerequisite from the list and try again. I did that, and it tried to install without the .net download.
Then it errored out with this 
So 2.0 is not required? It's pretty confusing.

I will verify the installer but starting with the version 7.0, its .NET 3.5 that is required. Thank you for all the details

I got it going after installing .net 3.5
