Dear All,
I am using Remote Desktop Manager 7.0.0.0 under Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
On all machines the same Dropbox Client is installed and I have no Problems with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 but with Windows 8 no connections entries are listed. No error comes up simply nothing happens. Any ideas?
Regards,
Carsten Horlacher
Hi,
Could you verify the application logs? It's in the menu Help. Maybe we will find a silent error.

Hi,
I checked the system logs, but there are no entries regarding RDM in. I also checked that the Dropbox synchronization itself would work and it does. So a file created on one of my system is avaiable on the others. So now I created a RDM entry on my Windows 8 machine. It seems that it is not saved to the connections.xml (which obviously has the data for all my missing connections).
One last test could be to set the debug level to 1 in the application options. It's in the Advanced Tab Page

Hi,
Yes this help and I see the error but not the details. I will have to do some test directly on a Windows 8 machine
David Hervieux
Hi,
have you had the chance to take a look at it or is there anything I should try?
Regards,
Carsten
Hi,
Unfortunately I haven't got the time to test it. I will try to do it soon.

Hello David,
have you had the time to take a look on or may you let me know when you expect to have an answer?

Carsten
Hi,
I just did the test and it works fine for me. Have you try the latest beta version?

If you create an xml data source on the same machine, are you able to add and view the entries?
David Hervieux
Hello David,
in the meantime I upgarded to Win 8 RP x64. I have still the same Problem with the dropbox datasource (RDM 7.4.3.0). The Windows dropbox app works fine, a local XML datasource also works. But when I try to use a Connection based on Dropbox I get not entries back.
The System log says:
[11.06.2012 12:21]ERROR System.Net.WebException: Der Remotename konnte nicht aufgelöst werden: 'remotedesktopmanager.com'
bei System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()

bei Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Managers.TrayNotifierManager.Core.FetchNotifierData()
bei Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Managers.ThreadManager.<>c__DisplayClass1e.<Execute>b__1d(Object param0)
So do you have some more ideas?
Regards,
Carsten
Have you tried the latest beta version 7.4?
David Hervieux
Yes, 7.4.3.0.
Regards
Carsten
I'm currently in Orlando for the Microsoft TechEd. I will send you a special version with debug code on Monday. Is it ok for you?
Sorry about that
David Hervieux
Yes sure. Thanks in advance,
Carsten
Hi,
I just tried the latest beta 7.4.4.0, but Dropbox as datasource still doesn´t work.
Regards,
Carsten
@Carsten
Just to confirm, it works fine with Windows 7? Where are you located? Have you verify if the local Xml data source work?
David Hervieux
Hi,
we are located in the area North of munich. With Win 7 and also with Windows Server 2008 R2 there no Problems, only with Win 8 consumer and release preview. A local XML datasource works fine.
Regards,
Carsten
Hi,
Could you please send us (or post) a screen shot of the "Diagnostic..." screen.

Hi,
I will send you, via a private message, an export of a DropBox test data source that works on Windows 8.
Please give it a try and let us know if it works.
Thanks
Stéfane Lavergne
Hi,
thanks for the file. It worked and it seems that I found the Problem. I don´t know how and why, but the entry for the DropBox Directory was incorrect. Now with the right Directory everything works fine.
Sorry for the confusion,
Carsten
No problem.
Glad I could help.
