I have a couple of users who installed RDM version 9.2.10.0. They import a data source that I pre-created but for some reason RDM isn’t picking up the registration info. These are fresh installs of RDM and I had to enter the serial number manually. Previously with older versions it worked fine and the program would register itself.
This happened on a Win 7 and a Win 8.1 machine.
My License expires at the end of the month so maybe the timing has something to do with it? On a test machine which never had RDM on it I tried older versions (9.2.5 and 9.0.11) but no luck either.
Hi,
It's not by importing a data source that you will get the registration. It's saved in the file remotedesktopmanager.cfg. So you need to export/import the options.

Hi David,
I'm not sure I follow. In the admin tab (under user settings I think, same general place where you can set a message to be displayed, enforce a minimum required version, etc), I entered the serial number and disable check for updates. Up until now, that seems to have worked. New users import the data source, select it to load all the sessions and RDM seems to have pulled in the registration number settings (maybe closing and reopening the program was required sometimes). None of these users are admins. Isn't that how it is supposed to work or am I not doing something right? (This is with an SQL data source)
Oh i see,
Yes they need to restart the application to get the license applied. That's why RDM starts with the 30 day-trial. It's to make sure that you have enough time to login to the data source.

I tried restarting the app multiple times across three different machines but it doesn't seem to work anymore. Is there anything I can do to debug why the license is not being applied properly?
Could you re-enter the license in the Data Source settings?
David Hervieux
I think I know what is the problem. RDM verify your current license expiration and apply the shared license if it expires later. However since your are using a fresh install, the trial expire after your current license because your shared license is about to expire. I will fix the application to not take care of the expiration.

Interesting. When I'm in front of my computer (in about an hour) I will try changing the date on the test machine to a date in the past and see what happens. I will post back with the results
Confirmed. I set the time back on my test VM to Aug 1 (2 months before my current code expires) and RDM registered as I expected.
Will you be fixing the current 9.2.10 installer or will I need to use the betas to get the fix?
Thanks
It won't be possible to fix the 9.2. I have already fixed the beta. We are about to release RDM 10. I expect to release the RC next week.
