Usability of this product

avatar

With all do respect to a beta status, but sessions are randomly disconnecting, not possible to connect to session after disconnect. Sessions are freezing and still has a bugs with importing.
At this rate, you will spend 10 years to get this product to a stage of a Windows one. End of rant.
I am trying to use it in production environment and usability is zero. Real end of rant.
Could you please work on session stability, please? This is most important.
Many of us, are very excited about this product and would like to see it working one day.

Hi,

We are sorry to hear that you have so much difficulty using our app and we apologize for the inconvenience.

May I ask you what version you are using?
We had an issue with the auto-update feature and we have worked on the stability in the last few weeks.

Are you using any vpn, connection broker or gateway?
Any specific informations on your environment would help us a lot.

Is there anything else we can do to help you?

Thank you for your patience and enthusiasm.

Hi,
No need to be sorry, as product is in beta :)
I work for a large hospital, and we have thousands of servers, mostly windows.
During the day, I would use Windows version of Remote Desktop, but frequently work from home and this is where I use Mac version.
I need to frequently export-import, as environment changes and I need to keep both synchronize with latest servers.
Some time ago, I have pointed out, that if you are in the root of your server list, you cannot import and was given a workaround to do it not from the top. It works, but several versions later we have the same situation.

I use VPN, to connect to work and keep many connections to different servers. If I use virtual machine and Windows version of the product, I do not have any problems with session connectivity, but on Mac version sessions are randomly freezing and you cannot reconnect, as all you see is frozen window. If you use windows product to connect, it will unfreeze it and after this you can connect again.
I use 0.9.67.0 on a 2012 27" iMac with core i7 and 32GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. CISCO AnyConnect 3.01 and OSX 10.9.4
Thanks for your support.

Thank you for all of this information.

We will investigate your RDP session issues with our partner at AwakeCoding.

As for the menu issue, I will looking into it with a fresh eye.

Just to make sure, is the workaround still working?

Hi,

The menu issue should be fixed in the next version (0.9.69.0).

As for the instability we are still investigating the issue but the new version will contain the latest version of FreeRDP, so the stability might be better but there are no guarantee.
