I setup a new computer and can't get dropbox to validate. I'm running version 9.2.6.0. When I go to add a source>dropbox and click Validate, the window goes out of focus but doesn't bring up the password field. I have also tried 9.1.4.0, 9.0.7.0, and 9.0.12.0 and those will bring up the password field, but still says it's not validated when the password is entered. I have tried opening IE and Chrome and logging into dropbox with the same results. Can't close out of the application once the dropbox window is open, I have to close it out via task manager.
The logs only show the following entry multiple times with the last number incrementally increasing:
[6/20/2014 4:25:44 PM]INFO Upgrading database for data source 'Local Data Source' with version 125
Windows 8.1 pro fully updated.
Dropbox is constantly changing their API. Have you tried 9.2.10.0?

Same thing, no password window pops up after I click Validate with Dropbox.
Could you check manual authentication in the Advanced Settings?
David Hervieux
I didn't see a manual authentication in the Advanced screen. Since I had this setup on my old machine, I exported the data source and imported into this one and I now have access to Dropbox.
Hi,
If you install RDM 9.4.8 (http://remotedesktopmanager.com/Home/Download#beta), you will have the manual authentication checkbox in the advanced tab (File -> Data Sources -> Dropbox).

Would it be possible to at least be able to cancel the dialog box when the DropBox authentication is not working? Currently the only way to exit is to kill RDM via task manager.
Hi,
Adding a cancel button is not as simple as it sound. We use an internal web browser to do the authentication and it runs on the UI thread. It does not seems to be possible to run it in another thread.

I tried to link my second workstation to this same dropbox account and can't authenticate it either. I couldn't get out of the screen and had to stop the task too.
Have you tried the manual authentication like JF mentioned?
David Hervieux
I'm running the latest version, 9.2.10.0, and don't have a manual option. Is it called something else?
Hi,
If you install RDM 9.4.9.0 (http://remotedesktopmanager.com/Home/Download#beta), the option will be available.

I see, I have to downgrade RDM. Is this the only solution? Any ideas why the current version of RDM can't authenthenticate my dropbox?
DropBox is always changing their API and we have to update our code.
David Hervieux
Ah, understood. You guys do a great job trying to keep up with all these features. I'll try to go back to the earlier release.
For what it's worth, I was able to authenticate my dropbox account on my first workstation at the current release without any problems.
Maybe the issues is trying to get the second workstation that I tried to connect to my dropbox account.
I still think there should be a time-out or some mechanism to cancel or get out of this window if the authentication doesn't work as I had to use the task manager on my machine to get out of this dialog window.
I was able authenticate with the new version of 9.4.9.0 manually AND with Two Factor, Great Scott I'm excited!
BTW, Cool16v, it's an upgrade to version 9.5 Beta, not a downgrade. Even more excitement, it looks nice also.
My sincere apologies to all. I did not look closely at the release and thought I read it was an earlier release when in fact it is the beta version.
I UPGRADED to the beta version and do have the manual option and have successfully access my datasources between my two machines.
Thanks for the solution to this problem.
No problem, By the way André is investigating the real problem.
