Show all Data Sources in Tree

Show all Data Sources in Tree

avatar

is there a way to have the Tree show all my data sources. right now when i use the pulldown and pick a data source i have a folder called Sessions with the my machines in it. can i have the tree show all the data sources in different "session" type folders? since we got the enterprise site license we are going to start to use multiple data sources and having to use the pull down is a pain

thanks

Hi,
Unfortunately it's not possible. We don't have this on our roadmap for the next version as well. It's not as simple as it might sound. We have two majors issues related to that:

1. Performance: we will slow down the application by loading a lot of data. It's already complicated to keep the performance with even one large data source.
2. Security: we will have to switch the context and manage the multi-select across data sources.

Sorry about that.

that really sucks. i guess i miss-understood the multiple data sources when i talked to support chat a few weeks ago to get the license. oh well, we will make it work this way for now and hope that sometime in the future that we can somehow combine the sources all to one screen.

thanks for the response

You can have multiple data source but like you mentioned, you need to switch from one to another with the combo

is there an easy way to have the pull down just be a list so i can at least see all the names and bounce between them? then it would be ok if the tree's were separate. it might sound petty but the users that we are installing this for aren't computer or technical people and they will keep forgetting :)

What do you mean? Do you mean that in the pull down you would see all the session from the other data sources?

no, i mean instead of the pull down, i could choose for it it could be a list and would always show all data sources maybe with a scroll bar if i had too many or i could resize it, then as i clicked the data source i want then the tree below would change with whats in the data source.

i hope that makes sense, i'm having a hard time explaining it i think

It's a good idea. I have entered a feature request for that.
