First, is the right place, and right way to submit a crash report? Are they useful?
Second, all I did was click the "X" to close a session and received the crash. It's done this to me before but I just moved on. I figured it's best to report it though if it's helpful.

Yes it's the right way and the right place to submit your crash report.
They can be useful to identify what crashed and the cause of the crash.
Sadly, I can't promise you I will be able to fix the issue just because you sent me the crash report.
Keep them coming if you can and always explain what you were doing when you had them.
