hi!
having a group / folder assigned to a security group and the option "cascade security to children" set does not apply the security group to a session which i dragged into that folder ...
i thought that would be what the option does ...

Hi,
When you said it does not apply, is it because you have edited the session and you don't see it? Or you see it with a user that has not the right to see it?
I'm asking that because we don't modify directly the session, we just filter it on the server. This mean that you can also apply a specific security group to it.

hi!
please find hereunder what i did and what i expected ...
i am an admin user ...
steps to reproduce:
-have a session which is not applied to any security group
-create a group and set it to a security and also check the option "cascade security to children"
-drag the session into the group and check the security option
result:
nothing changed ...
expected:
the session has the same security group set as group/folder ...
what is the option good for if not for applying a security automatically when dropping a session into the group?!

after re-reading your post i think i now get it ...
i dont see any change because i'm a admin user ...
setting a security group on a folder results in filtering only sessions with this security group set?! is that correct?!
if so i'd love to have this changed or another option "apply security to children (also when moved to this folder)" ...

hi, i have the same problem so sorry for dont creating another thread.
I added our Main Folder to the Security Group Mitarbeiter and had set the Flag cascade to children.
so if we have a new employee and i didnt create a internal RDM User he can see everything....
so after i create his internal RDM User he is restricted this is okay.
But if i dont create a User he can see every connection of every security group

I will try to add a default security set for a newly created user. This will allow you to restrict the access by default. Could you send me a print screen of the about box for a new user? I just want to see what are is default DB permisssions (OWNER, SYS_DBA).
