I am using Vista Ultimate, Cisco client 5.0.00.0340. RDM finds the executable in the Options/installation path choice.
I fill in the blanks on the VPN tab for the cisco choice with the path to the .pcf file and the user name and password.
When I run open the session, I get an RDM error: Unable to open the VPN connection!
From the minimal information needed, I would think that this should be a fairly straight forward setup.
This is a Trial version of RDM 5.5 that i downloaded this week.
What is going on?
thanks
Hi,
You did exactly what is needed. Do you have the latest version (5.5.0.4)? Also, I know that the pcf file must be in the Cisco profile sub folder:
"C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\Profiles"
Can you check the application log, it's located in the menu Help->Application log to see if there is something logged.
Let me know

Do you mean RDM version 5.5.04? If so then the version check reports 5.5.0.0 and the version check reports that this is the latest version.
the cisco vpn client is 5.0.00.0340.
the .pcf files are in the "c:\program files\cisco systems\vpn client\profiles".
After checking the suggestions, i have tried a new test setup and it reports that it is opening the Cisco adapter and the gives the error message.
There are no items in the event log under application for Cisco or RDM.
I like this idea since my company supports a number of clients and they mostly use RDP, but some have VPN login's also. This is the kind of solution I have been looking for, so that i can keep a central access point that keeps up with the ip's and other details to login in to our clients.
thanks,
bill
Hi,
The 5.5.0.0 is not the latest, I have disabled the auto update a fee weeks ago because of some problems. This will be reactivated soon. You can download the 5.5.0.4 from the web site.

I'm that this will fix your problem.

Thanks, that seems to have solved the problem. I do have a question about why the CMD window doesn't automatically close when the VPN connection is made. The VPN connection is not closing when the RDP session is closed. I thought this was supposed to happen.
Hi,
good question, I will verify for the cmd window. For the auto close, there is an option for that, is it activated. It's in the VPN configuration section.

it works much better now. it does seem that there are times, even with the automatic disconnect checked, that the VPN connection is not disconnected.
thanks,
