Layout Navigation gone after each upgrade

Layout Navigation gone after each upgrade

avatar

I'm on version 9.2.2.0 now (just upgraded) and for the last 10 updates, the layout gets reset each time after app restart so that the Navigation disappears. Is this intentional? I've performed multiple reset layouts to try and clear all my settings back to a good state, but it continues to occur.

It's really not intentional. Could you try to delete all the lyt file located in %LocalAppData%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager

Will do, just checked and there were about 20 lyt files of varying dates.

Make sure to close RDM before deleting them

Yup, I did, will monitor how it goes after the next upgrade. Also, thanks for the the "Select Dashboard" feature, I believe I requested that and never thanked you for that feature.

No problem. By the way we are now supporting Chocolatey. It's much easier to update with it

Whoa, wasn't even aware of chocolately, but as an admin that is SWEET (no pun intended there). Going to have to check it out and test it for updating other apps across the company easily. Thanks again.

Had this happen again, not sure why other people haven't seen this. It seems to occur when I run an update with RDM running and when it has open sessions as well. This time I also ran into the problem where I couldn't close all the info tabs at the bottom, it would always leave one that I couldn't close. After I closed and started RDM there would be a big red X on that bottom panel (sometimes it was the details panel, then after I tried closing them all again it was the terminals panel).

With reset layouts I just couldn't get them all to close, so I took the RemoteDesktopManagerDefault9220.lyt and manually made that the RemoteDesktopManager.lyt file and it all worked well again. Not sure why that would happen, but just relaying what I did to resolve the problems now.

Hi,
Could you try to close RDM and delete all the lyt files. This is a full reset layout. With this done, we will see if this happen the next time.

We are having the same issue (navigation pane is no longer displayed after the upgrade) when upgrading RDM.

I haven't tried deleting the lyt files yet ... I don't think I can "sell" resetting the layout to our users.

This does not happen for our other users. So I suspect that something is corrupted in your layout. Delete them just for a test on your machine.

It's happened to me on multiple machines for quite some time. I've just gotten into the habit of turning the nav pane back on after each update.

Same here, I just upgraded from 9.4.11.0 to 9.4.13.0 and it still happens. I'm so used to resetting the window layout, expanding all my connection folders and then closing all the sub-status panels at the bottom every time I upgrade I've forgotten about this. I'm sure one day it will happen to enough people to be found.

Also, I've deleted my .lyt file multiple times and eventually this problem reoccurs.
