Data Entry-account getting automatically created?

Data Entry-account getting automatically created?

avatar

I am not sure how I am doing this but occasionally websites that I have to login to (this is being done completely outside of RDM) are causing a data entry - account session to be created. Here is a picture of the properties of one of the entries that got created. This is not occuring to any of my other users however they see these entries as well in our shared datasource.

Here is also a screenshot of what they look like in the list of sessions.

Hi

Does this occur in a specific browser?
Do you have our Extension installed in the browser you use?
Do you have a Data entry with the same URL in its Website field?
How do you share that xml file?

Thank you

I use multiple browsers so it is hard to tell (IE8, Firefox 27.1, Chrome Version 28.0.1500.72 m)
I have the RDM addon installed in Chrome and Firefox
Both addons are version 1.1
I dont use any data entry sessions
The XML file is hosted on a windows server 2003 and shared on the network using normal windows networking in our domain.

Hi

Sadly when using a xml data source there is no logging nor history. Can you try with an unshared xml file to see if this occurs as well?

I dont know if you are equipped to monitor file activity with a tool like procmon from sysinternals, but it would be nice to know exactly by whom the file is saved with erroneous information.

I am pretty sure the changes are coming from my workstation. The web addresses that being recorded are ones that no one other than myself would be accessing.

I do have a Microsoft SQL datasource that is doing the same thing.

I guess it is not a big deal I can delete these entries easily enough. Just irratating to not know why.

ah ok

In your sql data source, can you browse the Entry history (View -> Entry history) to see if we can isolate an issue?

ok will do but first I was able to duplicate the issue. At least in Firefox it occurs after I login to a website that I have to input a user id and password. Firefox asks if I want it to have it remember the password and if I click yes that is when the entry appears.

ok found the log entry not a lot of info on it but I will send you screenshots in just a sec

well, isn't that a nice feature, it IS implemented in the firefox extension.

There is an issue though, the name should not be left blank by the extension, and we could improve upon it by updating the entry when there is already an existing one for the same url.

If you press no, I guess it will not create the data entry.

I cannot promise when the issue will be fixed, and if they will be fixed following the view I presented here, but David will review the case and will take a decision.

Thank you for the time spent in isolating the problem.

This is now fixed. The application will no longer create an entry without a name and it will update the credentials if you already have a data entry linked to the same exact url.
