VPN pause

avatar

Hi there!

Since version 6(.0.0.0), I discovered there is an option on the VPN tab, that says "After execute pause".
The default value here is 15 sec. This means it always waits 15 secs after building the VPN.

Is there a way to reduce this to 1 or 2 secs for all entries? We have 887 sessions, so I don't want to have to modify them one by one....
Using RDM 6 enterprise with a MSSQL database.

Not sure if I had to post this one on the feature requests or on the bug list, but since it bugged me, I put this one here.

Thanks, Sander

Hi,
This value was hard coded in the previous version. You can use the Batch edit (General Settings) but it's not possible to change only this particular value. It will change for the selected session all the VPN settings. So if you have multiple session that share the same VPN, you can give use this functionality.

You should do a backup also to make sure that you don't change something by mistake.

Hi David,

Thanks for the reaction. Unfortunately, the 887 sessions are divided over around 300 sites, each with their own VPN credentials. Batch editing them will replace the creds.
I discovered that the option is added to the database as soon as you edit it. So, without editing it, is it possible to replace the hard-coded value with a changeable one in a feature version?

Hi,
I added a setting in the application option (Session Type tab page). IF you set the VPN delay to -1 in the session (the new default), this value will be used. Can you give it a try. Don't forget to set the VPN setting to -1 where you already changed the value:

This is all since version 6.0.0.0. I just tried the 6.0.0.0e version but the problem is still there.

Hi David,

Gave the exe a test. Unfortunately, the -1 setting does not work for already added connections, where I did not change the VPN pause earlier. If I manually modify the -1 value to 1, it does work.
Is there a special reason why you choose -1 instead of 1?

@sander
Hi,
I choose -1 because 1 is used to wait 1 second and 0 is used to not wait.

@existenz404
Have you tried to change the default option in the menu File-Options ?

Just to isolate the problem, can you create a VPN session with the Cisco setting and see what delay you get?
