KeePass and String Fields

avatar

I was wondering if there was a way to pass string fields through KeePass2 to Remote Desktop?

Right now when I create a User account entry in KeePass2, I fill out the user name, password, then I go into advanced and setup a custom string field called Domain. I do this separately because often times I have some random system that doesn't like the classic "domain\account" login format, and insists on the domain going in a different box (webpage management logins are perfect examples). But then sometimes that messes with local windows logins as they will then try to authentication to the workstation rather than the domain.

So basically, I'd just like to be able to store the Domain in KeePass2 in it's own string and be able to call that string as-needed when authenticating. Is there any way to accomplish this? Does REmoteDesktop use the autotype feature when passing the login credentials to windows perhaps (so i can script the domain back into the login)?

Hi,
I just verify to be sure sure, but the Remote Desktop Manager plugin is looking for a string name "Domain" like you described. If it's here it's returned to the application and used for the domain. RDM does not use the auto type feature. Have you tried it with an RDP connection?

Thanks for the reply, and you're right: it DOES grab that field. I did notice, however, in RDP it seems to pass domain\user rather than putting each into it's own field.... but as long as it works I can't complain ;)

THank you agian for clarifying this. Only issue I have now is NetExtender add-on seems to require me to manually store my credentials the RDM session and ignore the keepass reference. But thats a minor footnote at this point.

Hi,
I will verify if it's possible to fix this for NetExtender. André added the support for the credential in may VPN that we support and I will verify if it's here for this one. Have you installed the latest VPN add-on, it's 1.8 I think?

Is it possible that your VPN is configured as a session and not in the VPN tab of an existing session? I found a bug / missing feature related to that.

I had to update the add-on to 1.8 and yes, now netextender is doing it's thing. Good News!
