User specific settings on credential entry change from custom to embedded

Hi,

Recently users have noticed user specific settings made as Custom entries were changed into Embedded credential entries causing the entry to stop working.

Is this something that has been changed in a recent version of maybe caused by an upgrade for a recent version?

Jan-Pieter

Hello,

As I remember, you are using a SQL Server data source. Am I correct?

Do you remember which version your users we're using prior to the upgrade? I would like to try to reproduce the issue in our environment.

You have upgraded to RDM 12.6.2.0 right?

Yes, we use a SQL Server data source.

The user that detected the issues is on 12.6.2.0. He however already mentioned this issue briefly a couple a weeks ago so it can't be the last upgrade to 12.6.2.0.

I thought I had seen the client version in one of the tables with the connection log info but I can't find it (anymore?!? - I'm not sure) so I can't tell you the exact history of his upgrade.
I believe he upgraded once more recently but (again) I'm not sure if that was after or before he noticed the issues.

Hello,

Do you remember if the previous version was RDM 12.0.8.0 or 12.5.4.0?

I would like to ugrade from your latest version to try to reproduce the issue.

Ah, the user is still on 12.5.4.0 and he suspects since the upgrade to this version the issue has arisen.
The exact version before that is unclear.

Hello,

If he was using an official release of RDM, he was probably using RDM 12.0.8.0.

I know that there's a database upgrade when you update RDM from 12.0.8.0 to 12.5.4.0. Maybe this as caused the issue that your user had.

I will ask to our QA department to try to reproduce.

Hello,

We've updated RDM from 12.0.8.0 to 12.5.4.0 up to 12.6.3.0 and we had not encountred a change with the user specifc settings switching to embeded from custom leaving us unable to reproduce the issue.

Not quite sure what else could affect the user specific settings unless some change has been made directly to the SQL user account.

We will keep investigating to reproduce the issue. If you find anything please let us know.

Hello jan-pieter,

Could you look at this topic and validate if it's the same issue for you
https://forum.devolutions.net/topic28202-batch-edit-sessions-user-specific-settings-on-folder-not-working-the-right-way.aspx

If it's the case, the issue has been resolved and the fix should be available in the next release of RDM.

Jeff,

That doesn't look like the same issue. They did not use batch edit and "the embedded" mentioned in this issue is different than the one for our issue - our embedded is the credentials being embedded while embedded in the other issue refers to a connection being opened external or embedded.

Furthermore I can confirm the issue is for more users. The whole team having access to the credentials and having set personal credentials (user specific settings) on them are seeing the credentials having been moved from custom to embedded.

JP

We will be closing the incident at our end. Hope you manage to find the issue and (should it be related to one of the upgrades) keep it in mind when testing new updates for simular issues.

Hello,

We managed to reproduce the issue partially from an older version. The custom credentials with no username and only the password filled it switch to embedded, but we still keep the password when we click on the blue underlined embedded text.

Can you confirm that you still have the password set in the embedded option ?
