Feature Request - Add support for "Active Directory Universal autentication" = Azure MFA

Azure SQL have created a new authentication method called "Active Directory Universal Authentication". This method supports Azure MFA (2-factors authentication).
This method would be great if it´s possible to have in Remote Desktop Manager with Azure SQL. Probably it´s a small change, because it´s depends on a new version of SSMS.

Active Directory Universal Authentication is an interactive method that also supports Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Azure MFA helps safeguard access to data and applications while meeting user demand for a simple sign-in process. It delivers strong authentication with a range of easy verification options—phone call, text message, smart cards with pin, or mobile app notification—allowing users to choose the method they prefer. Interactive MFA with Azure AD can result in a pop-up dialog box for validation.

Hello Magnus,
Stefane is currently on vacation and he will be back next week. I think that it did some research about that and I'm not sure what he found exactly. I will let him answer you as soon as he gets back.

Hi Magnus,

Of the three (3) new authentications only two (2) are available in .NET applications such as ours. In the latest version of RDM/PVM we support both (Active Directory Password Authentication and Active Directory Integrated Authentication). Once Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is supported in the ADO.NET provider we will be adding the required workflow code.

Would be great to see this as well. Having local DB users or purchasing Azure Premium isn't ideal though can work as a work around. Thank you

Yes please, would love to see support for this as we are enabling MFA within our Azure AD and are using RDM with SQL Azure

My company want to integrate RDM with Azure SQL. Our field engeneers use RDM and we want to add an extra security layer with MFA.
Any news on implementing RDM with Azure SQL and MFA?

Hi all,

Unfortunately Microsoft has not yet made "Active Directory - Universal with MFA" available via the ADO.Net provider.

Once we see MFA listed here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/api/system.data.sqlclient.sqlauthenticationmethod we will good to go. Adding the support to RDM/PVM will be a matter of a few days from that point on.

Good news Microsoft released today the an "Early Access build with the .NET Framework 4.7.2 Developer Pack"

SQL – Azure AD Universal and Multi-factor Authentication Support

We will start investigating so that we can release this as soon as the 4.7.2 update is officially released.
