Hi,
I'm using RDM 12.0.5.0 and I've weird problem.
A folder group appears under our root folder. Under this folder there's no entries. But if I do a search the group folder is duplicate.
So I delete the folder then I need to do an CTRL-F5 to refresh because all connexion are disapear.
After the refresh a new random folder appears.
Very hard to explain.
Can we do a webex or something else? I've upgrade to 12.0.6 an I got the same problem
Thanks

I'm using Microsoft SQL Datasource.
I've delete the offline Database and got the same problem.
Hello,
That's normally a offline problem.
We will start by changing the Offline Engine. Here is the help :
https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/file_options_advanced.htm
To make it apply you need to restart RDM.
If it doesn't help could you try that step by renaming the Offline Caching files please.

Which option I choose for the Offline Engine?
SQLite?
MCDF?
MCDF V2.0?
thanks
Could you try all of them please ?
You can start with MCDF v2.
Some of them works better on some computer it depends on so many factors.

Hi,
Still having the same issue, I've test all SQLite MCDF and MCDF V2.0.
I've also delete the offline folder and still having problem.

Hello,
Could you go in Help -> Diagnostic -> Data Source tab -> Database Diagnsotic button and post a print screen of the Deserialization and Duplicate Groups tabs please.

For you information, We have around 80 users. Only 4 of them have upgrade to 12.0.5 and all of them have the problem.
All others users using 11.5 and they don't have any problem.
I will ask our QA to reproduce it. They might contact you to get more details.

Hi again,
There was a bug that we fixed in version 12.0.3.0 related with folder deleted comming back in SQL Datasource. The thing is, to make sure that this issue is fixed and completly gone, all the user utilizing the datasource needs to be on the same RDM version. RDM 12 was a major update and if the SQL datasource has been upgraded for RDM 12, It would be best for everyone to be on RDM 12 from that point or this could create anomalies.
If you want to make sure everyone is on the same version from now on, you can select your root and in the dashboard click on Data Source Settings, and set a minimal version, you can even have a custom message sent to all users trying to connect on lower versions. I've attached a screenshot of the area where the option is located.
From then, I belive that when everyone will be on same version, everything should be fine concerning that issue.

Alexandre Roy

Ok,
Can I downgrade my 4 users using 12.0.5 to 11.5 as every others users. and I'll upgrade everyone after Holiday?
Hi,
Yes this is fine, as long as everyone using the datasource stays on the same RDM version ;).
Although, the SQL datasource has already been upgraded, I'm not quite sure if the bug will still be there for the time being.
And just to be clear. If you set your minimal version to 12.0.5.0 now, what would happen is: All the users utilizing RDM 11.5 will recieve the message to upgrade their RDM to the minimal version on the next (force refresh Ctrl-F5) or connection to the datasource and will automatically get disconnected from the current datasource, forcing them to upgrade RDM.
If you set the minimal version while everyone is off work for the holidays, next time they're going to connect to the datasource, they will also recieve the message and won't be able to connect until they are on the same version.
I'll let you choose which scenario is best for you ;).
Best regards,
Alexandre Roy
Hi,
Also I'm not sure if upgrade everyone will fix the problem. Because in the log I see that the problem begin at the date I've upgrade the Database for version 12.x And problem is only present for user using RDM 12.0.5
See the log. we see the random folder BARCO NGP "edited" every 2 minutes by users with rdm 12 until I delete the random folder this morning.

Yes I understand that's the way I upgrade normally. I also begin with 3-4 users for couple weeks and if everything is fine we do everyone. But this is the first time we have problem like that.

Hi,
Is this folder a *workstation folder* ? does it have security restriction for other user to not view this folder?
A quick test for you if that is the case, could you edit that group folder that appears empty and see if there is a name in the settings ?
If there is no name when you edit that folder I belive that I know what the issue is.
Best regards,
Alexandre Roy
Hi,
I've see a difference. The random folder have permission options appears under Security. But the "Original Folder" doesn't have permissions options.
And it's not a workstation folder.

Hi,
Permission were introduced with RDM 12, if the original folder doesn't have permission option under security when editing the folder on RDM 12+, this is probly a created conflict between RDM 12 and RDM 11.5 users.
I tried to reproduce i, but without success.
