Hi,
i have installed XMing on my machine, & did a search on how to configure XMing and Remote Desktop Manager, so that i can start gui window. Can you provide me a url which shows step by step guide on configuring this. I did a search, but couldnt find information.

Hi,
You can create a new entry and Select X Window. We use xming for the command line.
David Hervieux
David,
Well that's what I did, but double clicking connection doesn't do anything. Refer to attached properties screenshot along with Xming config. file
Not exactly sure about what step did i messed up .. can helpdesk point me to a workable example. I am trying to connect to Virtualbox running Oracle Linux via Remote Desktop Manager that is installed on my win 7 laptop.

config.xlaunch

Could you try the command line directly?
xlaunch.exe -run config.xlaunch
David Hervieux
Do you mean to say run this from command prompt ?? I hope not... since as expected it gave me 32 bit app error. Refer to attached screenshot
Via command prompt , I went into dir where Xming is installed C:\Program Files (x86)\Xming\ and then i typed in
xlaunch.exe -run C:\Misc things Neeraj\Xming\config.xlaunch
Also fyi, this xming thing works fine, if i simply call it via putty.

RDM invoke xming in the command line. That's why it does not work. It was not implemented to use it via Putty.

David,
I am not sure, if i am following you. We have a license, can somebody help me via webex if it's difficult to explain it via forum post ?

Unfortunately we have not expert in xming in the company. This was added a long time ago to directly invoke the xming on window.
David Hervieux
Not to sound rude, but that is really sad to know you built some features and now you don't have resources to support that.
I understand but do you have an idea how many add-on we have in RDM and how many technology we have integrated? This is not a simple task to keep the environment. We usually work with our user to do the integration. For Xming, it has been integrated 5 years ago with the help of a friend of mine. It was even before RDM Enterprise.
I will see if i can poke him.

It works for me on windows7 64. I use XMing 6.9.0.31. Maybe you could try that version.

Hope it helps.
Simond, i am using the latest version only. I can use xming with putty without issues, but that's not the case with RDM , so clearly i am not doing it it right way when it comes to RDM, can you post screenshot ( word docu. ) as to how you have configured.
Thanks in advance.

About my installation, I didn't change anything from the default, just picked up my xlaunch file.
I'm not that good with putty but I don't understand how you can launch xming from it...?
If you get the same error from the command prompt while launching "xlaunch.exe -run C:\Misc things Neeraj\Xming\config.xlaunch" without RDM then the problem is with xming, not RDM.
First I would check if you are using a 32bit windows and trying to launch the 64 bit version of xming.
If not I would reinstall xming, preferably the version that works for me.
Good luck!
Simond,
Well my xming version is same, that u r using but it still doesn't work even without RDM. Problem is with config. Can you post screenshot of how u configure xlaunch file and how u r invoking it via RDM
I was able to do via Putty and i documented it in my blog also a while back

Appreciate if u can post screenshot for xlaunch and RDP settings that u have.
