Each new install unpins RDM from taskbar

Thank you for the timely response.

I remember that it was a bug in the installer and the way Microsoft handle the pin button. Mark do you reproduce this with Windows 10 as well? I will check if the workaround we've found is still used.

I have noticed that it occurs in the last steps of the installation process.

We did the workaround last year and worked fine but now it does not seem to work anymore. I will try to upgrade the installer product to see if they resolve it.

I thought the last time this issue was tackled was frustrating also, since you put out so many beta releases of RDM. Thanks for your efforts. I look forward to a resolution to this issue.

I did some more tests and I think I found something.

Is it possible that like me, instead of pinning the shortcut from the Desktop, you pinned the one that is in your Taskbar when RDM is opened?

From the Taskbar, I have the issue. But if I pin the shortcut from the Desktop, the icon stays in the Taskbar.

That's definitely possible, since I don't normally allow the installer to create menu items or desktop icons.

I will try a pin from a desktop icon and see if the next beta upgrade install unpins it.

I did pin a desktop icon to my taskbar and just upgraded to the 12.5.11.0 beta. My pinned icon disappeared, no change from the previous behavior.

FYI: I actually downloaded the setup file from the website and ran it. I have tried the in-place "Update" from the "new version available" dialog as well with the same outcome.

I don't have this issue (using Windows 10). RDM on the same spot on my taskbar for a long time now.
I pinned RDM manually by starting RDM then "Pin this program to taskbar".

Just a bump on this topic. Any progress on finding a solution?

I see that the latest beta install (Version 12.9.3) did not unpin the icon from the taskbar. Yeah!
I don't know if you've been working on the issue or not in recent builds, but it is good to see the behavior is fixed in this latest release.

This is still an issue for me.

Every update unpins from the taskbar.

It was fixed back in the day, it came back for me as well.
