VMware launch web console doesn't work (because of popup?)
1 vote
Hi. I'm using RDM with Linux Mint and I'm pretty satisfied.
But there is one thing not working:
I have configured a vCenter as a website, and when I open it and open a VM, nothing happens when I click on "launch web console". In Windows it opens another tab in the browser, while in Linux nothing happens.
I have searched a lot if it can depend from some option, but it really seems a bug
Regards

Hello,
Thank you for the report.
Could you confirm if this used to work in a previous version of Remote Desktop Manager for Linux?
At the moment, opening multiple tabs is not supported for Web entries in RDM Linux, which may explain why nothing happens when selecting Launch Web Console in vCenter. The VMware console appears to rely on opening a new browser tab/window.

Hi @Carl Marien
honestly I don't know if it worked in a previous version, I'm using RDM for vmware only recently, sorry.
Is there any workaround to open a tab?
Thanks
M.
Hello,
Thank you for the clarification.
Since this setup is recent on your side and we do not have confirmation that it worked in a previous version, I will consider this as a scenario that has not been supported before rather than a regression.
At the moment, Web entries in Remote Desktop Manager for Linux do not support opening additional tabs or popup windows, which is likely required by the VMware Launch Web Console option.
I will transfer this case to our feature request team so our developers can review the possibility of supporting this behavior in a future version. They will be able to provide more details from there.
Best regards,
Carl Marien
