Password Protect Data Source

Password Protect Data Source

Is there a way to password protect a Data Source. For PCI security reasons we need to create a data source for our users that they will import, but don't want them to have the ability to modify the data soure.

Can access to "edit" the data source be password protected.

This is NOT to be confused with the password inside the data source.

Best regards,

Hi,
If you create your user in the database, you can give them access or not the edit the session. But it's not exactly what you asked, it's not password protected, which mean that the user will never be able to edit the session until he use another login.

Let me know if I misunderstood what you asked.

David,
I'm not exactly sure if I understand your response or not, but I'm not concerned with the user editing the session. I'm concerned with the user editing the data source.

However, being since the password is masked, I think I can accomplish this without needing to prevent the data source from being edited by the user. I will give each user access to the DB via a username and password that I setup for them, but they will not know their password. I'll then create the RDM Data Source for them and they can import it. If an employee leaves the company for whatever reason, I can then simply change their password on the SQL Server and they won't be able to access the data anymore.

Also, I won't allow offline mode on the data source.
