Keyboard and mouse connected to iOs that RDMs my headless Mac mini.

Dear Community,

Here is the scenario: I have an M1 Mac Mini as a headless server. I use RDM on my iPhone 16 to connect this server and launch screen copy from it to my TV using a last generation Apple TV (shame that we have to push screen copy from remote devices and not pull the connection from the Apple TV, but that's life).

Now I connect through USB-C port a keyboard and a mouse to my iPhone as the Mac Mini is too far from the TV to connect directly those two devices to the Mini itself with Bluetooth.

Problem is that RDM does not recognize keyboard and mouse as connected to the Mini. I also tried to connect those two to the Apple TV but same issue, they are not recognized by the Mini as legit inputs. I checked all visible parameters in the RDM app on my iPhone but found nothing.

What did I miss in this scenario?

Thanks a bunch for your help.

Hi,

Could you please ensure that AssistiveTouch is enabled on your iPhone? Without it, the mouse will not be able to connect.
If the default behavior does not meet your expectations, we recommend disabling "Perform Touch Gestures" in your device settings under Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch > Perform Touch Gestures.
Regarding the keyboard issues you mentioned, we were unable to reproduce them on our end, except for the CMD + Space shortcut. This shortcut is enforced by the operating system and cannot be overridden. The only workaround is to remap the Spotlight shortcut (e.g., to Shift + CMD + Space) on your Mac Mini by going to System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Spotlight.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Best regards,

Hello,

Thank you for reporting this issue. When the mouse and keyboard are plugged into the iPhone via the USB-C port, are they usable outside of RDM, for example, in the Notes app on iOS?

Hi Frederick,

Yes, exactly. Tested CMD + Space Bar and got the search bar from iOs, not from Mac OS.

Hello,

Thank you for your response.

Do any other keys work, or is it specifically these kinds of shortcuts that are not working?

Nothing’s working. Worst is the mouse, not moving at all on the Mac screen.
