Importing KeepassXC or just generic csv

Importing KeepassXC or just generic csv

avatar

I'm currently trying out Password Hub, as I'm already using Remote Desktop Manager and think it could be a great solution for our company.
However, I'm facing difficulties importing passwords from KeepassXC.
With Password Hub, I only get IDs and no other useful data.
In RDP Manager, I can at least align the columns, but it's just user/password info, which isn't helpful since it's not recognized as a browser login.
I also can't set the ConnectionType.
I've checked the Help article on CSV import strategies and file format, and watched the videos, but I'm still stuck.
CSV import strategies and file format - Devolutions Documentation

Is there any documentation specifically for importing from KeepassXC, or advice on how to properly convert the CSV for importing into Hub or RDM so that it integrates into Password Hub?
I could only find posts about Keepass, not KeepassXC, on the forum.
Importer Software doesnt work on Personal Hub.

Hello Patrick,

Are you able to export your data from KeePassXC as CSV or XML? In this case you could import them easily with the Import => Log in feature (this supports also importing as website)

Hi Patrick,

I did a test with KeepassXC and as you report the import does not work well with it. However I was able to import the data using the Generic csv wizard.

On the mappings page, set "Entry type" to "Website".

Thanks for your reply. That worked. Didnt use Sessions when using the wizard, but credientials, and so didnt see the Entry type.
Now I could import it, thanks!

Glad that helped. I'm working on a change for the import in RDM to handle KeepassXC files as well.

It would be beneficial if the XML functioned correctly. In my situation, passwords contained commas ",", which disrupted some imports with csv, since, unfortunately, the delimiter is also a comma.

In our next major version 2025.1 of RDM, due early next year, we will support importing from KeepassXC.

We decided to bring this change to 2024.3, it will be available in the next version (2024.3.19). A new CSV importer KeepassXC will be available, the Keepass XML import can import both from Keepass and KeepassXC.
