Hello Nicola,

You would need to ask your administrator to add your RDM license in Password Hub Business and assign it to you. The admin can follow this KB for all the steps: https://kb.devolutions.net/hub_no_enterprise_license_found_rdm.html

Thanks but if I click on Administration > Licenses I get the old interface to add the product key. Again, inside PH with admin account, I don't have the GUI to assign licenses but only the licenses list.

Can't understand...

Hello Nicola,

Can you confirm what version of RDM you are using? Since you are using Password Hub, I would strongly recommend using the latest version: https://devolutions.net/remote-desktop-manager/home/downloadenterprise

Ok, fixed by getting to PH licenses interface, copied and pasted the license from Devolutions Portal and then assigned to user.

Guys, are two days that I'm trying to set up PH... it's a nightmare to understand the logics...

avatar

Sure I'm using the latest.

I don't have any "Administration" tab when I switch to a PH vault and when I'm on the local one, I get the old licenses interface to add the product key.

Hello Nicola,

Glad the issue is fixed!

You can always write to service@devolutions.net, we can setup a meeting with one of our experts to get you properly configured.

I would know if it's a normal situation what I described to you: "I don't have any "Administration" tab when I switch to a PH vault and when I'm on the local one, I get the old licenses interface to add the product key.".

As merging process between Free and Enterprise, I suppose this interface is now useless if licenses are assigned by PH administrators...

Just to understand.

Hello Nicola,

Since the 2022.3 version of RDM, the registration is now performed in the data source directly. If you use SQLite or SQL Server, for example, then it would be done directly in RDM in Administration > License.

With Password Hub Personal or Business, and Devolutions Server, it is done directly in the web interface of the products. In you case, it is done with the steps I sent you previously.

If you were referring to the Devolutions Portal, https://portal.devolutions.com/, it is not used for assigning licenses, it is only to manage the ones you purchased.

Best regards,

Richard Boisvert

All clear, but so the KB is misleading:

It's not true, at least not in my case (I don't have any Administration - License entry when I'm on PH vaults). Could be because I'm not using RDM with a PH admin account?

HI Nicola,

I will be at the remote session on tuesday, I'll go over your questions and concerns of your other post regarding the Single sign on and Permission. and this one also

But here can you insure that the user that your are login in Password Hub business is Administrator of your Hub ??

Thank you

Hi France,

as I wrote, I'm not using an admin HP to login through RDM > "Could be because I'm not using RDM with a PH admin account?".

Obviously, PH users are not vaults admins for security purpose (we have different accounts for that).

Yes only Administrators have access to the Licenses in Password Hub Business and actually the full Administration Menu.
What is strange is that in RDM you say you don login in Password Hub Datasource with a User , not admin, you should not even see the Administration tab.And not the License Option
on less that you are not accessing Password Hub in RDM.

We can go over those detail on Thuesday if you are all ok for now

Thanks you

In fact, I only see the Administration menu only when I switch to PH vaults (wrote it in previous posts). What I suggest is to fix the documentation because I think is not so intuitive for new users like me.

@Nicola,

My name is Jeff Dagenais and I am the manager of the documentation team here at Devolutions.

Could you post a few screenshots of what you mean by the administration menu only appear when you switch to PH Vaults. This would help me understand where we need to put our efforts.

I would also need the URL of the documentation that you are referring to, I am not able to find it in your thread.

Best regards,

Hi Jeff,

the KB is the one Richard posted upward: https://kb.devolutions.net/hub_no_enterprise_license_found_rdm.html.

It's all now crystal clear that RDM reconfigure it's GUI based on vault selected:

Local data source:

PH one (with no admin account logged):

What I suggest is that the KB phrase could be misleading:

I was not aware of the RDM logics and someone else could be probably tricked too. I always use RDM locally, so my comprehension of license setup was the standard one (product key inserted in Administration > License); I can now understand that license model is changed, but having different approaches to apply it could be tricky.

How can license be useful for someone not using PH and so that is not able to assign it through it? If it's useful anyway, why not making license menu consistent in every scenario? Like always having Administration > License and, inside it, different type of assignment (with brief information about license model linked to PH).

Hope to be useful, you guys are fantastic and your support is exemplar.

Hello,

Thank you for the details.

Indeed, you need to select the proper datasource to get the proper menu's . The features offered in the ribbon will differ depending on the datasource that you are using. SQLite and Devolutions Hub Business are 2 different kind of datasource.

Regarding the license management, you need to be an administrator to get access to the Administration - Licenses menu when using an advanced datasource like Devolutions Hub Business

If you are using multiple datasources, each of them would need to contain a valid license to unlock all the features.

Best regards,

Jeff Dagenais
