Hi David,

Could it be due to the new feature as indicated 'Improved the dashboard to be customizable' that the Navigation tab is not visible anymore ?
Connecting to existing database (which is updated on first login) gives at startup a layout where the navigation at the left side is no longer visible. Layout reset and function button Navigation do not provide any solution to make them visible. Also delete .lyt files no difference/improvement.

Has something changed here or am I missing something?

Regards, Marcel

Solved, deleting .ext file did the trick...

Hello Marcel,

Glad you could find a workaround to this issue. We have had multiple reports of this happening on RDM 2022.3, so it shouldn't be related to the changes in 2023.1. We are currently investigating for a solution.

HI,

Client session with 2023.1 gives an error message in an existing database when using One Time Password entry (Credential entry OTP and also Credential entry Username/Password, tab OTP) Creating a new one does not give any message(s), but when using the Copy of View, an error message arises.

This message arises with the existing ones and new added OTP sessions:

Have new settings been added in this version for OTP?

[Update:]
Client session with version 2022.3.24 to the (updated DB) gives no problems when using copy or view OTP .

Hello Marcel,

Thank you for reporting this. We changed the library we use for generating OTPs in 2023.1, and it seems that certain keys that used to generate values now don't work. We had to make the change as part of our eventual switch from .NET 4.8 to .NET 6. We weren't sure whether this would actually affect our users, or if the keys that don't generate were 'never supposed to'. I have opened a ticket so we can find a better alternative before the official release, so that we don't have this regression.

Also, just as a test, could you take the Key of that OTP and try to enter it manually in Google Authenticator? When we did our testing, we had assumed if Google Authenticator could not use those keys, then it was unlikely users were storing these kinds of OTPs in RDM.

Hubert Mireault

Hi Hubert,

I have entered the key manually in the Google Authenticator app and also the Microsoft Authenticator app (both on Apple Mobile) for a random entry OTP from our RDM and both give a 6-digit code that corresponds to that in RDM (opened with the working version 2022.x.x)

Regards, Marcel

Thank you for the information Marcel. Obviously I can't ask you for the key but it's a good confirmation that perhaps there are more issues related to this library than we first thought. We will investigate.

Hi Hubert,

No problem, I just created an test account with MFA in my own tenant and created the MFA/OTP session here in RDM (updated DB from a 2023 client).
Created with this client with version 2023 the OTP session gives no error message creating, only view or copy wil give the message.
While if I do this view or copy from another client with version 2022.x.x the view/copy is normal available.

I will send you the information and key used with screenshots via PM.

Regards, Marcel

Awesome, I received your message. This will help us a lot. We will post back here when we have an update on the issue.
Thank you for your help, and have a great weekend 🙂

Hello Marcel,

We will have a fix for this starting with RDM 2023.1.7.0. It should resolve most issues you've had with the OTP feature.

Hi Hubert,

Hello,

I have installed the 2023.1.6 version, and any time I try to launch an RDP session, the entire app locks up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it a few times. I must revert to the latest 2022 version until this is fixed. As it is now, the application is useless.

Regards,
Chris

Hello Chris,

Thank you for contacting us on that matter!

Would it be possible for you to create a portable installation of the latest version of RDM and see if this issue still occurs? This test will allow us to see if the issue is tied to the local installation of RDM.To do so, you will need to do the following:

1- Download the .zip file below:
https://devolutions.net/remote-desktop-manager/home/thankyou/rdmbinbeta
2- Create a new folder on your Desktop
3- Extract the content of the .zip file into the folder created at #2
4- Go to this folder once the .zip file has been extracted and run remotedesktopmanager64.exe
5- Connect to your data source.

If the issue persists, please go under Help -> Profiler -> Debug Only and set the debug level to 1. Once this is done, follow the same steps leading to this issue and provide us the logs that will be created in the Profiler Window.

Then, set your debug level back to 0.

Best regards,

James Lafleur

Hi James,

I can test that and see what happens. I have been back on the 2022 version and have not had any issues. Let me do the tests and see, then get back to you here.

UPDATE - I noticed the ZIP file is 2022.3.35 --- I had an issue with the newer beta 2023.1.6. Do you need to update the link?

Thanks,
Chris

Hello Chris,

Thank you for mentioning this, the link has been changed accordingly.

Hi James,

Not seeing this file in the unzipped content - remotedesktopmanager64.exe

Only see - remotedesktopmanager.exe

I assume this is the same thing as the 2022 version only has one file too. Testing the download now to see.

Regards,
Chris

Hi James,

I enabled the debug logging and recreated the issue with this portable format. Where are the logs located? In the portable directory or other location? I will get them attached here.

UPDATE - The profiler window is also hung, so I cannot get any buttons in that window to work for the log collection. :(

Chris

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your replies!

Would you be interested in having a remote session with us to see what can be done? If you are, please go under Help -> Submit a support ticket, check both options shown in the window, and mention this forum thread in the description of your case. This way, I can find it quickly and provide you with a link to schedule the session at your convenience.

Best regards,

Hi Hubert,

Just checked the OTP issue with the new beta 2023.1.8 OTP but unfortunately checking the existing OTP sessions in our database give 'wrong' codes. The same OTP via the existing version (2022.3.24) gives a correct, and working, code.

Hi,

I'm testing the 2023.1.8 beta version. Especially the IT Asset part is really nice. We needed these features too. I would like to make some suggestions.

1) We have hundreds of contact information. We have separated them into folders. Names are not fully visible in the References section. It appears with the folder names. Is there anything you can do about it?

2) Will there be a connection between the Owner and Team parts? Can we add people to Team? or make relationship between them?

Thank you, Best Regards.

@gokaycagri

#1 Do you have an print screen to show me the issue with the folder names?

#2 For now there is no connection but it's a good idea. I will add a field Team in contact

The latest release of RDM has broken the Keepass integration. I am being told the plugin is out of date now and when trying to update it there is an error that comes up about install.

How can I fix this as I use Keepass daily?
