Web Browser: Auto-fill not working in embedded browser

avatar

Using my browser, the Web Login plugin recognizes the URL I'm trying to log in to. Selecting the suggested entry fills the credential fields correctly.

Using the embedded browser, the credentials are not filled in.
'Autofill login' is ticked.

Am I missing something in the configuration?

Hello David,

Our autofill feature uses pattern matching to fill the correct fields. It is possible that website uses slightly different patterns, preventing our code to work properly.

Can you share (either here or through private message) the link that you are trying to connect to, so we can see what we can do?

Regards,

The web application runs on our LAN is not reachable from the outside.

I'll send you the rendered HTML code in a PM.

Some more information:

Our coworkers that are using Windows are able to make the auto-fill work on this particular application.
But they have an extra parameter they can tweak, which is missing in the Linux app:

In Windows, there is on option "Only send password in HTML password field" that is missing in the Linux version.

Thank you.
I will add this info to the ticket.

Hi David,

I updated the auto-fill script with the stuff that was missing from RDM Windows's implementation and it should now work properly with your website in the next update. With the rendered HTML code you sent us, I could run the auto-fill script to fill the username and password fields by entering the id of the fields by hand and by using the Automatic mode. Feel free to contact us if you have any more questions or issues regarding the auto-fill when the next update releases in January.

Happy holidays

It looks like v2021.2.1.3 is able to auto-fill the credentials in our application.
But only in an external browser, using the Web Login extension, not 'Embedded'.

Not that that matters much to me, I'm using the Web Login extension in my own browser :-)

Hi davidl,

The update with the fix for the auto-fill script has actually not come out yet. The 2022.1 version of RDM Linux should be released in Febuary.

Thank you for your patience :)

Hi davidl,

I just wanted to inform you that the issue is resolved in the current version of RDM Linux (2022.1.0.7).

Regards.

When defined as a 'General Website', it works.
But not if defined as a 'Session Web Browser'.

Just to make sure I got that correctly.

When using a Website entry (from the information entry list), auto fill is working as intended.
However, the same auto fill fails if it is used in a web browser session entry.

Is that right?

The Website entry is picked from the 'General' list; launches with 'Navigate URL'. This one works.
The Session entry is picked from the 'Session' list; launches with 'Open Session'. This one does not get the credentials filled in.

Thank you for clearing this up.
We'll look into it.

Hi davidl,

Hopefully, this time, the issue should be resolved in the next version of RDM Linux (2022.1.2.2).

Regards.
