VMWare Remote Console 11.2.0

avatar

VMware Remote Console provides console access and client device connection to VMs on a remote host.

We would like to use the VMware Remote Console in version 11.2.0 to connect directly to a vm. Unfortunaltely, you only support vmrc 8.0 which is not funcionally with our vsphere 7 environment

Hello Markus,

Unfortunately nothing new for now. We'll have to see how big of a change it is and when we can put this in our roadmap, but I've noted the interest in the improvement.

Thats very unfortunate, as the solution should be very simple.

Hopefully the workaround can help our users to connect to more recent versions of vSphere for the time being. Thanks for providing that, Markus!

Just to give a little more background information, there are a few things to consider regarding our integration that doesn't make it a quick change:

  • For the embedded mode, we don't embed VMRC.exe in RDM, we actually use our implementation of VNC for a smoother experience.
  • We also use the API to authenticate with the server so you don't have to re-enter your credentials. This applies to the external mode as well.

In this case it means we both have to change our VNC integration, and change the API we use to authenticate to the VMWare host as the one we are currently using is deprecated in newer versions.
