I am connecting from a Kubuntu 18.04 LTS to a Windows 8.1 Pro machine both with a German Keyboard layout active but for some reason the input seems a bit weird. y and z are switched and pressing the ^ button instead outputs ö and a whole lot of other chaos.
no idea how wayk transfers keyboard data but I think this is not supposed to happen.

This is a known issue when using non-English keyboard layouts between different platforms (i.e. we would expect Linux -> Linux or Windows -> Windows to work as expected). Please see this thread for some more information.
We have a ticket open internally but I don't have a timeline for when that will be resolved right now.
